The goal he scores for lazio where he dances past about 5 defenders is pure magic, without doubt the best player on the ball England has ever produced. I can't link it from you tube cos I don't know how, but I'm sure someone can oblige? Lazio are playing in yellow on the clip

Not many would have even thought of doing it, never mind getting it right.

Not seen that one for Lazio before either- the guy was an absolute genius.

It's a shame I've only fairly recently seen how good Gazza was, as he was (only just) before my time into liking football

Best English player in my lifetime.

As I've said countless times on this forum, he was my footballing idol as a young lad of 7, and although I had already started going to Oakwell a year before with r old boy, it was Gazza and Italia '90 that really ignited my love for football.

I know of only one person who doesn't rate Paul Gascoigne as a footballer.......

The difference between Gazza and Lampard/Gerrard is that he could pick the ball up anywhere on the pitch and immediately score/create you a goal, your team didn't have to be playing well to have a chance. Yes lampard and Gerrard are excellent players but they are not as individually brilliant as Gazza by any stretch, I would also include Roooney in this, he has more skill on the ball than the other 2 but I don't think he can dribble past 6 or 7 players and score from absolutely nothing.

The argument that these players have won euro medals and so are better doesn't wash with me, they are playing in teams now that are the best in the world because the premier league attracts the best players from abroad, let's not forget back in the 90's when Gazza was playing there wasn't much of a chance of an English team doing that well, the big league was serie A so chances of euro cups were small, as mentioned if he had joined man utd instead of spurs he would have won more medals but it perhaps took more effort to win the things he did with the team he did.

English clubs were banned from Europe at the start of his career and took a while to recover. He went to Italy but arguably at the wrong time with the way football in this country went. His career was blighted by making poor decisions. Should have played for United. What a player though. Most talented English player I have seen.
