Truly awful... Where lies the problem? Sad to say Danny I am pointing blame your way I know as fans our expectations are high... But we fail to compete in games... Danny talks about possession football and asks for patience, but I am running out of patience. Football is a results business and we are not picking up poiints... We lack experience, we lack backbone and look fragile in all areas... DW this season has made to many tactical blunders... The players startinng to lack confiedence, they look unfit, weak (to easily muscled off ball), lack desire, mentality is all wrong, and our postional discipline does not exist... Opposing teams should see fear playing against the likes of Turnbull, Naytanga, Ramage, Craine, Dudgeon, Bailey, Treacy, Jennings, Hemmings, Trotta and Lita. I for one was expeting Jennings to take division by storm, Mvoto to stand strong at heart of defence, and New signings Hemmings, Treacy and Lita to push us to promotion (Box office signings) but all of the aforementioned look unfit and out of favour... If they were at any other club, I feel that they would be staring every week. And by playing they would build fitness and hopefully grow in confience... Instead they warm the bench... Instead lower league signings have stepped up to the mark e.g. Winnall, Berry and Hourihane... The 4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1 formations have failed to deliver results (apart from FA cup vs Burton). Devante Cole and Kane Hemmings both comfortable in central striiking role but ineffective when pushed out wide but we push them out wide... Diamond formation means we lack width and when we we lose possession our fullbacks are left exposed if they have joined attack. In a flat 4-4-2 midfield would offer fulbacks defensive cover. DW need to learn from Mark Robins at Scunny, keep it simple, players know positions, keep it tight and attack on counter... look at their change in results...Danny sort it out or get out! This coming from a Wilson fan
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Well said that man
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Good post. It's ok saying we should play wingers to cover the fullbacks but that would leave us even more open through the centre of the pitch as we don't have good enough all round centre-mids. The answer would be to play 5 in midfield or rather more simply of course - buy better players!
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Number 2 not good enough
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Presently none are good enough... its like every week we are going into play pre-season friendlies... no motivation... We need to start competing
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Good post, this team should NOT be struggling, we need to find a proper system to accommodate the players we have. You are correct many of the teams in this league would love some of our players. I expected a bedding in phase but that has now gone. We now need solid performances, like you say keep it simple and change the formation to do so. We also look unfit and disjointed, I think Danny will be busy in the festive period trying to recruit. I have heard one player the club are trying to sign but he aint a tackling midfielder
A good read, but I just can't agree with it. I seem to be inthe minority here but I just don't think we have a great squad. Our goalkeeper seems decent, but the majority of our defenders are relegation experts, weak characters and short of pace. The midfield is non-existent other than the odd Hourihane flash. Jennings has never been reliable and I'm not too convinced about the strikers, although Winnall has done well it must be said. I'm baffled people think we have a top six squad. I'd settle for 10th-15th this season and then a serious push next time. It's just annoying that we're in the same position yet again - resorting to loan players despite hoping we wouldn't do that and hoping a change of manager will miraculously change our fortunes. History - particularly over the last decade - proves that not much has changed.
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Agree with this. We have been crying out for a leader in midfield & injuries are showing up our paper thin squad.
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so I too am mystified how everyone thinks we have a good squad. Turnbull looks ok now he's fit and Ramage would be ok with better defenders alongside him, although he's only a loan anyway. Midfield is awful with no backbone at all. Hourihane showed flashes of brilliance early on but has now disappeared altogether apart from his corners. Berry shows potential but is not consistent yet. Winnall looks a good signing up front and that's about it really. Not the basis of a top 6 side is it?
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so One of the best squads on paper? Which players are these?
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so We don't play on paper we play on grass (well somebody had to say it.
Re: On paper IMO we have one of the best squads in L1 and manager. How come we are so Agree - we have one of the best, if not the best, squads in this league. But we also have, more or less, an entirely different squad from last season. Some new teams click instantly, others don't. Obviously this one hasn't - and Danny warned about this at the start of the season that there will be ups and downs during the season. I still think we could be strong towards the end of the season and may finish top 10 even top 6. And I still think if we change managers now it would be an absolute disaster for the club
