It is quite clear to me that :-

    1. We have absolutely no competition for places except Muller & Steele.
    2. Apart from the 1st teamers coming back from Injury, not one player bar perhaps Atkinson are even remotely ready to challenge for a place. To add to this, Davey wants to ship Atkinson out on loan again. This is is the reason for the lack of competition.
    3. I watched Ryan Kidd manage that reserves match and he looked completely uninterested. Ok so he did communicate something to the players after about 75 minutes, other than that I think he was just there to fulfil his jobs requirements. Is there any wonder we end up with the situation for my first two observations?
    4. What did the younger players do at half time during the reserve match??? Just had a game of crossbar!

I think Davey needs to bring in some quality & enthusiastic coaching staff. Someone with some passion for both the job and for BFC. We certainly seem to be lacking somewhere in performing the basics like simple passes. I couldn't put my finger on who to bring in to liven things up a bit. Maybe a couple of people like Redfearn or Hignet?

Anybody else agree? I think this is the root of the problems we are having and acting now could save Davey his job if he drops the old pals act.

I agree that Davey doesn't seem to be able to fire up and motivate our team like I would want.

I do despair of the youngsters I have seen at half time, they just want to piss around, I want to see them using every second to learn, to train, to show they are there and are hungry.

You've hit the nail on the head !

Simon Davey is a poor leader and manager, he may have passed every coaching badge going but when it comes to leading, motivating and direction, he is somewhat lacking.

true leaders are born not created by badges

they can have all badges they want if they cant lead or motivate they cant badge it into em and DAVEY obviously has not got it contrary to what one or two on here think

    Rubbish

The players look completely interested to me and threw everything in against Blackpool. We weren't good enough - end of. It wasn't a case of the players not being motivated.

    RE: Rubbish

I remember a certain Wimbledon side in the 80's not having enough talent on the pitch BUT through motivation, inspiration and team spirit they put a lot of the so called top team's nose out of joint.

A lot can be achieved given the right direction

    More rubbish

Wimbledon were just an unfashionable team. They had lots of decent players.

And what do you think made them decent players ? Their ability to close players down ? their work rate ? their passion and desire ?

Where do you think these qualities come from ???? From a leader who can get the best out of them, get them fired up for games and get them fighting for each other.

In comparison to the top teams they didn't, BUT they did have bags of team spirit and fight, born from the manager.

Which one? Dave Bassett or Bobby Gould? Or both? Or was it good tactics? The Crazy Gang mentality actually came from the players.

There was plenty of passion at Blackpool

Players putting bodies on the line to block two Blackpool shots that looked CERTAIN goals. Players throwing themselves into risky tackles to stop shots (Foster's tackle in first half stopping them breaking through for example).

I hate it when a team starts to hit bad form, people immediately start to say the players don't have any fight. The reason we're in bad form is because we're not playing well. Had it not been for the determination to stop Blackpool on Saturday, we could have been on the end of a thumping.

You can have a go at Davey for a lot of things but from what I've seen, motivating this team isn't one. In the past I've not been so sure, but this season I've seen us fight a lot more and play with much more commitment.

i have spoke to the man and to certain players he has not got a clue and is a very ignorant person. its extreme predudice as its our club not his hes only the manager and he hasnt a clue on how to manage. again tonight his tactics were inept and its starting to look like the players dont want to play for him. nuff said go on now find sometthing wrong with my grammar or something cause you cant argue my point

    Just a point of interest................................................

You are one of quite a few posters who like to slip in "I have spoken to the man and , blah, blah, blah".

May I ask what the topic of your conversation with SD was and any answers he gave you.. Did you talk about tactics or anything football related?

    I'm just interested like.

I think you need to be more specific-what did you ask him? what causes you to say he is ignorant-because he doesn't understand the Cern experiment? or do you mean ignorant of football? and which are the "certain" players-which presupposes the others don't think the same way

I've spoken to Davey before, the two specifics of our conversation were Nardiello and Hassel. Nardy's gone so that's irrelevant, but Davey looked genuinely shocked when I suggested Hassel was a decent central defender. I found Davey to be polite and affable, just for the record.

I'd be shocked if you suggested to me Hassell was a decent player.
