Can anyone remember a character called Selwyn who when the Ponty sang "Selwyn Selwyn give us a wave" was always in the middle of the away fans stood on the Kop and either got thrown out, kicked in or more often than not both. It was in the mid seventies in the Jim Iley days I think.

    What ever became of him?

    Selywn.....

I can well remember this particular day: Newcastle at home (81/82) and me and my mate were stood on the 'balcony' overlooking the precint as around 100 Geordies were waiting for the Gyngleboy to open. Selwyn walked right through the lot of them. Top bloke!

I knew of a Kev Nutting - big bloke who had a sister called Susan. But I thought they had a craft stall on the indoor market. He was one of our customers.

John Liptrot - anyone from Wombwell know him

20 years ago when i were about 19, i used to be out rond wombwell drinking with him 3 or 4 nights a week. He was a good kid with a good heart, but never really got any breaks. I think he was a millers fan. I think him problems started when he lot his job at Yorkshire brick. Soon after i got engaged, and only saw him occassionally, and hardly at all for last 10 years, so don't really now what sort of person he became, or life he had. Although i lost touch, he is often in my thoughts - such a shame

Knew his face as I go up Wombwell for a pint most Saturdays and have for many a year.

Nice kid, always said hello, and up the Millers!

I don't know the circumstances surrounding his death but was saddened to hear of it.

As you say, nice kid. Just never got dealt a winning hand in life.

    Selwyn in the seventies

I remember one evening away game in the fourth division days (could be Crewe) he turned up in steel toecap boots. Local plod were not too impressed and made him leave them outside the ground. Can still see him standing on the freezing terrace in his stocking feet.

Kev Nutting was a great bloke, used to sell cotton, wool, sewing machines and stuff in the indoor market. Sadly no longer with us but he was a massive bfc fan. He would have loved to have been at Cardiff last year.

Steve Hallsworth from Wath. Retired from teaching about 5 years ago, still lives in the house he inherited from his parents.

    Still has "long" (grey) hair.
