Very poor game of football. Was stop start with the referee stopping play every 2 seconds. He was very poor apart from the bookings. The red card was the correct decision however some may argue that danny rose shouldn't have been on the pitch for it with his 2 dives in the box (was booked for 1) and his foul on adam Davies. The pitch was shocking which is why bury played it long into the channels all game because the ball just sipped when it hit the turf especially on the dugout side of the pitch. As for us we wernt really at it. Was alot like Saturday at times. Had a couple of chances 1st half to score. My MOTM was George Williams. Thought he was excellent again. However Lloyd isgrove had a very good game 1st half.
Williams was my man of the match too. Davies 7 Bree 7 Roberts 7 Mawson 7 Williams 8 Hourihane 7 Scowen 6 Hammill 6 Isgrove 8 Watkins 6 Winnall 5 Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Agree with a lot of that. It was a very poor game of football not helped by very poor refereeing and a very poor pitch. We had enough chances to put the game to bed in the first 20 minutes, similar to Saturday. We had a goal bound shot blocked, a one-on-one from Isgrove saved at a tight angle and Winnall and Hourihane blasting over when all they had to do was hit the target. Winnal's chance in particular should have been taken. Had we gone 1 up we'd have gone on to win as they offered very little. I thought Mawson had a very good game, very solid again and Roberts distribution was much better. Unfortunately the fullbacks don't offer much going forwards. Hammill was up against 2 or 3 men every time because Bury knew Williams wasn't a threat. We're very unbalanced down our left side because we're playing two right footers. Williams did defend very well though. I thought Isgrove had a very good game again but was cynically brought down whenever he beat his man. That typified Bury's performance. The game was spoiled by the stop start nature. All in all a point isn't a bad result, but the whole night has been spoilt somewhat by Hammill's sending off and 3 game suspension. I'm struggling to see how we will score goals over the next three games. He's our main creative spark at the moment. Winnall needs to offer more outside the 18 yard box if we're going to break teams down.
it sucks that flitcroft has turned bury into this horrible physical talentless team, but they keep getting away with it in matches because of poor refereeing. and whats worrying is how winnall has gone off the boil since the january transfer window, i hope we're not going to regret not selling him.
Not really. The defence played well Bury had no clear cut chances at all. Isgrove showed great energy and pressed well. Hourihane wasnt his best but did his job next to a below par Scowen. Strikers were non existent but Watkins pressed better than Winnall. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Opinions, eh? I thought Winnall did a load of good donkey work and set Hammill free on a number of occasions. His finishing was off, yes, but he is still getting into the right positions. Isgrove on the other hand was very poor, wasted our best clear opening with team-mates waiting for a tap-in, gave the ball away on several occasions, ran down blind alleys consistently and was non-existent in the second half, as usual. Defence were good and solid and the main differences for me from recent games were that Hammill wasn't up to his usual standards and centre midfield was less dominant. Difficult to play on a ploughed field against a team of fat play-acting thugs whose game plan priority was clearly to focus on conning one of football's most gullible, unfit and clueless referees. So glad we didn't sign Tom Pope.
