are we good enough to go up this season with no additions to the squad ??? If not Can someone explain to me how a football club works Why do you build brick by brick like Sheffield United have done for the last 6 years OR Do you bring players in where you know you are weak. Consequently get promotion as soon as possible so you are in a league where you can attract bigger crowds For example, how Leeds United have approached this season What I am saying is basically this.......we all know the weak points of the team so why wern't these areas strengthened in the close season. Is there a hidden agenda here - for example to keep wages to a minimum for the next few years, get us in the black, then start to bring players in that we need If there is such an agenda - should the fans know about it.......we can then sit back and understand we arnt going to do owt for a couple of years, but if we do its a bonus
I don't think it's merely a case of saying "we all know where we were weak so why weren't these strengthened" It's a case of strengthening bit by bit and knowing your priorities BUT the players need to be available and you have to be able to attract them. One of the problems for years has been the defence and, whilst much is down to the ineptitude of opposition forwards, our defensive record this season would suggest that has been/is being addressed. We do need strikers but who doesn't? A 20 goal a season player isn't easy to come by - so if there isn't one available but a midfielder or defender becomes available that you think can improve the team what do you do?
