.......we get promoted to the top league. Seems to me that the only way we could threaten to do this again, is by having a collection of good players who commit and gel as a team. In my opinion we have a team that has a manager who can fuse such a team. But it'll take time. Because he has, in my opinion, a more than good player in his team at the moment. Who is putting us ahead of the curve. And when he goes, I believe we'll notice the difference. But that's us. A selling club with limited horizons By the way I wish we'd stop this chuffing awful "over achieve" phrase. It doesn't make any sense, this overachieving Something is either achievable, or it isn't. Unless you give 110% of course.
Luke Steel is our key man if we are all honest he has done far more to keep us going in the direction we are going right now.
Re: Luke Steel is our key man if we are all honest Spot on Dragon - Without Steele today we wouldnt have come away with all 3 points - and thats not unusual - Butterfield or Perkins are good players but not irreplaceble - no idea where we would get a replacement for Steele
Yep definitely! Steele is one player we need to nail down on long term contract, how long has he got left?
Oh Lord. Perkins? Vey rare I get a belly laugh these days. But thanks Steele? You do need a good goalie I'm off to Specsavers But do suggest who it is that other, bigger, clubs seem to want to buy
Butterfield was terrible today, other than his goal.... Constantly gave the ball away and put us under pressure trying to be too clever and tricky when just a simple ball would have done. I agree hes been playing well this season but today he didn't. we really missed Perkins today
Re: Luke Steel is our key man if we are all honest Absolutely right. On current form Steele is our key man and would be irreplaceable IMO. He must be worth an extra 10 points a season.
Agree re Steele. Worried that he will go. A cracking performance today but having seen the first goal again he should perhaps have saved it, but will let him off!
I think your right that we will miss Butterfield, but I always think we look a better side when Perkins in the middle. He seems to set the tempo for us, his busyness becomes infectious, along with Drinkwater the opposition are forever being closed down. But I hope we can keep Butterfield, it's nice to have choices and there is no problem getting all 3 in to the side. Most important player for us though is Steele, he was quality again today ("England's No1"), as he has been all this season. He is developing into a top gk.
We dont have one individual key player.. Not IMO anyway. We are yet to see a game without Jacob so its hard to judge whether we'd miss him. The one game we didnt have Steele - Soton - we conceded the losing goal thanks to a lack of communication between back four and reserve keeper. And he's been key, to victories over Reading, Hull, Leeds and Peterbro today. In fact, after 18 league starts, I am struggling to recall a costly error on his part. Vastly improved his few weaknesses, ally that with his already awesome strengths, and you have one of the best keepers in the country. Just because we are biased, as tarn supporters, doesnt make that statement false. Show me a more athletic, consistently outstanding english keeper, and after you show me Joe Hart, find another. There isnt one, but, this is my opinion. I do chat sh*t. But I wouldnt call Luke our key player. He is a massive influence, and if anybody would be missed the most, Id guess it be him. But for me, you take Shirley out of central midfield, especially away, and he's a big miss. And what about 6 in 6 striker Craig Davies? Got the winner, for the last 3 games hasnt he? Pretty key.. And, not forgetting a certain unbeaten red. Mr Barnsley. We are STILL yet to lose a game where Bobby plays the full game.. So maybe Im wrong in my opinion, and we have LOADS of key players. I think the team itself, the squad, the manager, and us united together, in harmony, THAT is the key.. but, I chat bum eggs, so. . . . ?
