At this point last season we were 5 points clear of relegation with two games to go. Our safety could be ensured if we won or even if we lost if results went for us.

This season we are only 3 points above relegation, our safety could again be ensured with a win but this time a loss and results going foruswouldn't be enough to be sure of survival with a game of the season left.

    * More points than last season (can't be argued).
    * Further in the FA Cup this season (can't be argued).
    * Further in the Carling cup this season (can't be argued).
    * Better squad of players this season (can be argued).

Muller, Steele, Souza, Nytanga, JCR, Leon, Bruma, Macken all improvements of last seasons's players - in my humble opinion. Getting to Semi's better than going out on 3rd round and we have a better points return and have played better football.

Agree with all the points Dreamboy made, we can't argue with that.

Need more strength in depth, that is clear OR use the players we do have available. Look at bench and we don't have the quality to change things.

Knocked out in same stage of Carling, so yes that can be argued.

    I agree completely !!!!.... but...

... this has been a season of such change and provided we stay up, i think Davey should be given the chance to see if he can mould the players he has brought in together with signings this close season into a serious Championship side. If we do not give him the extended opportunity then we are back to the 'revolving door' manager which frankly has not done us any favours.

I'm neither a Davey fan or detractor , I'm a Barnsley fan who sees instability as a negative influence on the club.

But spent a lot more than Ritchie did. Besides isnt gettin the club promoted from Div 3 in the long run more beneficial than a one off cup run?

oh aye, we won two big games in the FA cup

after a VERY lucky late victory against blackpool who had us on the ropes all the game due to bad tactics I believe it was.

I think that people are allowing these two games to detract from the league which shouldn't be the case. The cup is a bonus, the league is the issue.

You can't wimp out by claiming just to be a supporter of the club, you have to be for or against the manager and certain players.

If being concerned we might get relegated puts me in the internet fans 'Davey Out' camp then so be it. I don't want him sacking like but there you go.

No further in the carling cup

Yes further in the FA cup and more points in the league but surely the league is all relative. ie we don't start the season saying x amount of points is the target, a certain position is the target.

    What happened there is...

You asked a straight question and got an answer you weren't happy with. I'm not a huge fan of Davey but this season is a marginal improvement on last and don't believe a club of this size can afford to sack the manager every season.

You want an argument about how far we got in the Carling cup?

    I'm up for it.

no, I got an incorrect answer

He stated we had gone further in the carling cup which we hadnt. 1 victory is all we managed in each season.

Plenty of people noticed that. Although losing 2-0 away to Newcastle United is slightly better than 1-2 at home to MK Dons.
