    He was a great player for us. He was one of the two players who Ernest Dennis brought in to solve a goal scoring problem for us and saved the Club from extinction.

    He past away a few years ago now.</p>

    One of my lasting memories of John was meeting up with him at the Royal some time around 1979-81.</p>

    I was having a few bevies with a mate when a friend of my mate came in with John.</p>

    We had a reet good neat, John being a Scouser was a laugh a minute. A night I'll forget.
