With rob knowles keeping an eye on the site there will be users that want to post something but feel intimidated and so dont post because knowles could then report them to the club. if guests were allowed they could log out and post what they wish without being watched so closely</p>

So what if Knowles 'reported' someone to the club? I don't know if he does or does not, but I don't really care... What could they do?! Send someone to eliminate the people with most radical ideas and comments? Now we only need some sort of a conspiracy theory here... :pff

Pursuance of complaints about internet posting - could SA cofirm

Tomi in the UK the law is as follows. Its my interpretation but as I understand it the complainant can legally require the owner of the site to supply the ip number of the poster. The complainant can then legally pursue the internet provider for the details of the poster. The poster concerned can then be pursued for legal redress.

However both the owner of the site and the internet provider are also liable for the contents of posts made on their site and through the internet provision. hence the disclaimers on this site and within intrnet provisder agreements.

I know its along those lines, but site admin will know better than me

That's pretty much the case, Ali.

    Thanks for that Ali

    :)
Maybe then people shouldn't post anything that could cause them some trouble like that...
And if the owner of this site really is liable for the contents of posts made here, then I suggest that we keep the anonymous guests away.

    Tis true

remember the handful who had to apologise for questioning the integrity of a former owner

It would be a dangerous game indeed for a club (any club that is) to start continued legal proceeding, or indeed threats because fans voiced their opinions on an internet bulletin board, which, lets face it, as much as we love the place, is seen by very few people out there in the big wide world.

Radio Sheffield must be shi'ting themselves with all the opinions they broadcast.

Wonder if club officials are glued to Whinge or Grumble every neet?

    Do they get overtime?

I cant believe that you are so concerned about this.

Everyone has a right to read this board, why should anyone be banned unless they have seriously overstepped the mark? If someone posts pretending to be from the club and what they say is wrong or incorrect do the club not have a right to clarify the position?

    It is "understood"
