Sam Baldock of the MK Dons. Scored 10 goals so far this season, in a rapidly improving MK Dons team. He's only 19; he's pacey and he's regarded highly down in Milton Keynes.
Seen him on Sky v Carlisle and v Colchester A huge potential talent with pace, good first touch and an eye for goal. He needs someone to develop him properly, though, otherwise I can see him losing his way. MKD are talking silly money for him. Against Colchester, he faded, found he couldn't get into scoring situations and was substituted. If I was him (or his agent) I would be looking to see what happens to MKD next season. He needs to prove himself at Championship level and would probably never be heard of again if he went to the premiership. If MKD do not get promoted (unlikely), or if they struggle, I think he needs to go to a champiionship level in a team which will give him regular first team experience and with a manager, or coaching staff with a reputation for bringing on youngsters with potential. We would certainly come into that category, along with clubs like Burnley, Preston and the like. If he wants to stay East Midlands, then Norwich/Ipswich would be possible clubs.
RE: Seen him on Sky v Carlisle and v Colchester How many youngsters with potential have we brought on in recent times?
and you're suggesting throwing him to the lions and putting him in front of the Barnsley crowd. You'll ruin the land.
I hate the implication that Barnsley fans are worse than other fans They're not. Some people claim to be Barnsley fans but have absolutely no pride in the town or its people and never have a good word to say about them.
Leeds, Wednesday, Blunts, Newcastle, Arsenal (Eboue ?) all can outstrip Barnsley fans for turning on their own.
What is it with the self loathing at the minute ?

Yeah you're right This board is a hotbed of encouragement and praise for the manager and the playing staff.
and I'm foolish to think a young raw striker would get anything other than encouragement, we have a long and illustrious history of allowing players time to bed in (Darren Moore, Mostto, Chopra), supporting young talent (Chris Barker, Rory Fallon) and generally encouraging good players who are having a bad spell (Eaden)
... I could think of plenty more examples ...
