This time last year if someone said we would be this close to the relegation zone I would have laughed at them!

It's another one we need to win to keep ourselves above water. We've managed to do that this season so far, winning just when it's looking like we're going to drop into trouble. Not sure we'll do it tomorrow.

I see you conviently ignored the second bit. If this time last year someone said we would be 7 points off the playoffs I would have snapped their hand off after the number of players we released.

 

Yeah I looked at the table yesterday and it did look very strange for this time of year, there's normally three definitive areas of the league by now but it seems anyone who goes on a bit of a run could realistically get themselves into the play-offs - I really hope that's us.

 

Its such a tight league. If Danny can recruit well in January and we can get some consistency then we're still within striking distance of the play-offs. I don't think we'll make them but equally I dont think we'll be in a relegation battle come Easter.

 

But the fact is were nearer the bottom than the play offs

People have differing expectation levels as to what is deemed acceptable.

 

Recruiting well is crucial and if we do I think a mid table finish will materialize.

We've played a game less, obviously. Win tomorrow and we're closer (4 pts) to the playoffs. I'd have snapped your hand off if offered that in the summer, going into the new year.

 

But Sheffield Utd also have a game in hand and are in 6th at present. If they win that we'd still be 7 behind...

4 points seperating TEN places around the play offs from Sheffield United downwards. Eleven if the match is on today and we win. Not known at this time of the season a league so tight that nearly a dozen spaces is taken up by little more than the points on offer for a victory.
