If we don't beat palace PC surley has to pull the trigger otherwise he is basically accepting relegation
agreed but home games are ones we should be winning like today should have been so if he can't manage a win against palace then he has to go 4 points is just about acceptable 1 point from 3 games at home and a sacking has to follow
I depair at some of your comments Dan. You seem to be the type who after the next defeat and the next and the next we'll get our mad up and sack him, more so if nwe get relegated.
If we sack davey we are 100% definetly getting relegated? Care to explain how you came up with that one?
No it isn't It doesn't look great but our best chance of survival is keeping the manager who has kept us up these last two seasons. Sacking him and putting the academy manager in charge while we advertise the position and interview applicants (god knows who they will be with us being in such a precarious position, talk about a poisoned chalice) will result in relegation.
RE: No it isn't We already have the Academy Manager in charge, he has been for the past 2 seaesons, so what will the difference be with a different Academy Manager. It cannot be any worse.
not sure about that mate. if the "board" took swift action and got someone in as a stop gap until the end of the season then it could work. You often see teams pick up when a new manager comes in with new ideas. There's plenty of decent managers out of work, offer them a ten game contract and take things from there.
Why would a decent manager want a ten game contract though? What would they gain from it? Surely all they could do is damage their reputation if we got relegated. If we could get say Paul Ince in the building on Monday then yes, go for it, sack Davey and bring him in. But how realistic is that? More likely we'd end up with someone else at the club in charge for the rest of the season and hire again in the summer. At least Davey has experience of relegation battles and in the last two seasons he's come out on top. That doesn't mean he definitely will this time, but I believe he's the best chance we've got.
I don't think it would necessarily damage any manager's reputation, if they keep us up then they are seen as a success and if we go down they can blame the previous regime! I understand what you are saying about Davey having experience in relegation battles but we were kept up by Alan Lee one season after having a disaster at home v Leicester. I think his luck will run out this season and action must be taken now before it's too late. It is obviously difficult to judge, not having first hand experience of being in and around the squad, but I am sure it would give every one a lift and his position is becoming untenable in any event.
It's highly unlikely Davey will be sacked before the seasons end. But if he were, the best time would be after the game at Derby next week as there is a fortnight's break because of internationals. Realistically though, who could we possibly attract who's decent?
RE: Oh, i thought we had put the academy manager in charge?.. And he didnt make much of a job of the academy
