Goldbourne. No problem defensively, doesn't give the ball away, tackles well.... But there are times when he needs to just go with the ball. It's almost as if there's an exclusion zone around 20yards out. Don't know if those are his instructions, or whether he's just hesitant, but there are times in a game when a fullback has to be the furthest up, get a cross in, and his team-mates should be covering him. Wish he'd have the confidence to do it.

    I think Golbourne

Has been outstanding for us this season, so far. Today he wasn't quite as effective as previously, but still produced a solid performance. He's got time on his side and, in my opinion, has the makings of an excellent left back. Also, it's pleasing that we appear to have a decent back up to Golbourne in Kennedy.

I agree, he looks a good player ... He'd look even better if he pushed on at the right time.

    I believe

A defender's first responsibility is to defend properly. If he can also add to our attacking options, then great. But his first duty is to be able to defend. It is my opinion, Golbourne has been doing this exceptionally well so far and, for the most part, he has made a positive contribution going forward too.

I agree with that too, but sometimes a full back not offering himself further up the pitch, means losing possession.

The last two home games he has stopped short a few times, and we have lost possession because there is no pass on. To me there is no reason for it. When he has the space and the pass is on, he should move up, expecting cover behind him. I'm not expecting him to be Superman, just to know when he's the man to overlap.

It's a doddle this football lark.

That's exactly what Molly said to me midway through the second half.
