Maybe the rest of them knew the school was closed and stayed in bed.

Do you think your mate will get a knighthood?

You would have thought the headmaster/mistress would have phoned him up to tell him the school was closed. Or he could have listened to the local radio station about school closures. The stupid ****.

why would a school being closed automatically mean an extra days holiday for teachers though?

Surely if they could get to work then they should have done

They probably tried, but he'd set off at 3.30 am wearing makeshift snowshoes made from tennis rackets.

    I bet he's a history teacher.

Bit like the Radio Dee Dah thread........

never let the truth get in the way of a bit of teacher bashing.
My missus' school is shut cos the heatings packed up but she's there now changing display boards etc and trying to sort out stuff she'd usually do after the kids had gone home.
Still its nice to have a swipe at the lazy gits from in front of a nice warm key board.

    You've lost me

Are you telling me that if your boss phoned you up and told you your place of employment was closed you'd still go in?

No I'm telling you that not all teachers who's schools are closed are sat at home flicking themselves off to Trisha.

Like some on here would have you believe.

    To be fair:

I'd like to see the Rugby League team from Wakefield take industrial action.

Has anyone mentioned that Donny have signed a striker with one eye?
Why did I find that so funny?

    Where was the teacher bashing?

JC said that his friend had gone to work only to find that nobody else had bothered to go because the school was closed.

My school is open, yet Hemsworth a couple of miles away is closed again. I think they go on the state of the local roads and paths as well.
Quite a few of my colleagues live up near penistone and they have struggled to get in.

No i'm saying that just because the school decided it wasn't safe/ideal for 1000+ kids to travel to school and spend the day there that that doesnt automatically mean that it isn't safe for teachers to go and catch up on their other work that needs doing. As apparently backed up by both Johnny Coachman who's friend went in and by Longfella who says that his wife went in to do just that.

Obviously some schools will not be safe for anyone to go in and that includes the staff but a school being closed to pupils and announced on the radio as such doesnt automatically mean that the teachers should get the day off does it

    I was answering Supertyke

You can tell that by my post being right under his.

Our lass is a teacher. She was up at 6:30 this morning to ring the head to see if the school was closed then to ring the local radio stations and other teachers to confirm it was. Since then she's been working on her planning, so by 11:30 she's already done 4 and half hours work.

You've no idea what you're talking about. It's a common theme.

ffs. this is turning quite childish. There's no argument really. 99.99% of staff and 100% of pupils knew the school was closed. JC's mate didn't, yet apparently that's everyone else's fault.

We're not talking about other schools or teachers, or their abilities to teach are we?
