1. We have a mainly new, young team who are still getting used to playing together. The best is yet to come. 2. We have a new, young manager who we headhunted less than two years into his managerial career. His approach is the most thorough of any manager in our history, and his coaching qualifications are the most comprehensive of any manager we have had in charge. 3. We have an approach now to recruitment which is thorough, scientific, researched and efficient. Does that mean we will get it right every time? Of course not. 4. We are capable of a very high level of football which could potentially blow most teams in our division away. Wednesday night was proof of that. Under the right combination of circumstances, it will happen again. 5. The manager and his coaching staff are still figuring out our best playing formation(s) and which of the playing staff can be relied upon to adapt to what is required. 6. Our Academy/Youth System is the envy of every club in the Football League and there is every reason to believe that it will continue to produce players who will either a) Bring vital revenue into the club and/or b) Produce players equipped to break into the first team with a ready-made understanding of our preferred playing systems. 7. Our present owner/custodian has created a secure, debt-free financial platform which makes us well-placed to advance towards a return to the Championship at the least, and demonstrates a determination to ensure that whoever/whatever succeeds him will have first have had to demonstrate that they have the club's interests at heart. 8. We are not yet out of August! 9. I don't feel that the abundant promise of Wednesday night can be dismissed because of one poor performance when our squad was probably very justifiably knackered. I strongly feel we are on the right lines, and that we will prosper within a realistic timescale, albeit not immediately. 10. After the wrong turns and numpty appointments of the last few years, we are doing something different and positive. It is worth sticking with.
