I drove passed a polling station last night and at just after 9:30 they were taking down the polling station signs. Am I right in thinking they should have stayed up till after 10pm? Obviously I don't think it affected the results at all but it does seem an odd thing to do
Maybe everybody on the electoral list for that polling station had voted by 21:30 hours. I don't know the rules under those circumstances but I do know that you could vote until 22:00 hours so if anybody who hadn't voted turned up they could still have voted even if they'd started to take the signs down.
I work at a polling station you must leave one sign visible. You generally get 1 or 2 voters after 9 so you naturally tidy round.
Signs must be visible until closing time. If a polling station has all recorded residents voted. They still need to stay open. In case someone turns up saying that they haven't voted. Ie someone voted by giving the others details. Let's face it. You don't need tour card. If I know someone's name and address I could have turned up and do a vote. No real checks are made.....
