    the sign said welcome to Gymru i thought they spelled it with a C cymru?

    Its a mutation ,

    When you say you are from somewhere , or welcome to somewhere in Welsh , the noun (place name) is changed (mutation)</p>

    GCSE Welsh grade E , I thank you</p>

    I suspect Y Goch (The Reds) can explain better.  Goch is a mutation of Coch which is Red in Welsh.</p>
