There's been a bit of banter on here about one year deals No, I dont know how the system works..............but surely it is up to the management team to identify who qualifies for a longer deal than just one year Yes, Hillflicker did the right thing to sign Vaz Te on a one year contract because no one knew how good he was going to turn out. BUT BUT BUT.......as soon as they could see in training (and importantly this of course is before anyone outside of the club notices) that the guy had talent then isn't it the duty of the management team to approach the directors to sign him up for longer This also applies to Butters.......he wasn't worth much two season ago, but surely at the begining of the last season the management team could see that they had a valuable player on their hands. They made him captain for goodness sake at the start of the season so surely then they should have been saying to him 'right we are going to improve your wages for the next 3 seasons, if a suitable offer comes in for you we will discuss it'. But no............they just waited until everybody in the Championship had heard about how good Butters was at Barnsley. It was too late by then, the player was then being told by others how much he could earn elsewhere. Conclusion.........we are going to get less than half of what the player is worth............AGAIN Selling players on the cheap is undermining the credibility of Barnsley Football Club in the eyes of the fans. Its disheartening for Barnsley fans to see talented players shipped out for next to nothing. It makes us fans consider that there is likely to be no future progress at the club. The management team and directors need to wake up !!!
