With some f*ckin experience.....not some xxxxx from the lower leagues who will be a good cheap option if we get relegated. Come on Mr Chairman...... the result had Luton has rekindled the lads and fans belief that we could stay up with3 or 4 good signings. F*ck this up and relgation will set us back years. My prediction ..... .... we waste all of this week watching players, we make a couple of bids at the weekend, they get knocked back Monday or Tuesday next week because they are 'derisory' ..... Chairman says we have been trying all month to bring players in but 'their value of the player does not match ours' or 'the player will not accept our terms' ...... so 'we will have to go with what we have got for the rest of the season, but the manager and board are confident that we have enough ability in the squad to stay up'
Yes, and it does make you cynical doesn't it?...... ...... but it does keep happening like a recurring nightmare!!
Just a bit. Personally, and I know it's not a popular view on here, I wish they'd keep totally schtum until any new laiker's signed on the dotted.
Because they think their 'efforts' to sign players .... ...will appease the fans, and at one time it might have done, when they were making genuine, realistic offers and simply being outbid by bigger and wealthier clubs. But it simply doesn't wash anymore because there has been so many 'token gesture' bids for players when they know we haven't a cat in hells chance of them signing for the transfer fee or wages we are offering
RE: Because they think their 'efforts' to sign players .... Spot on, thats what i tried to say yesterday but not as well.
Albatross - Exactly 100% agree with your post their mate....'Token' bids for players to appease..... the fans when they know and we know they have no intention of spendy any coin. Unless we sign at least 3 experienced players we will go down.....FACT...... The next 8 days will determine the way this club goes for the next 5 years at least. After 18 years on the trot as a season ticket holder unless they show any ambition this week, they can shove next seasons ticket up their a*se. Not being fickle mate just this year more than ever they have took the p*ss out of the fans. CAN YOU HEAR THE PONTY ROARIN RONNIE IS OUR KING
RE: Albatross - Exactly 100% agree with your post their mate....'Token' bids for players to appease. I think we'll sign a couple of players but only on loan, even the mediocre lower league players are fetching amounts of money we are unwilling to pay. We havn't a cat in hells chance at fetching quality into the team, everybody wants quality, and every team who have quality will want to hang on to them. It's going to be difficult, very difficult. I only hope we don't end up with a Squad that is fewer in numbers than it is now, but it's looking that way. (titanic)
Speculate to accumulate ............ ... I know money is tight but in my opinion a bit of spending now on the right players might stretch the purse strings but might keep us up, then we can take stock and hopefully consolidate a bit more next season. It's a fine line, but spending nowt now will cost us lots more in the long run, relegation would be a financial disaster. For one thing last Tuesday's gate of just under 5,000 would probably be the norm in League One next season, and nobody wants those days to return, especially just 12 months after escaping from Pub League One by the skin of our teeth!
RE: My prediction ..... that is how it will pan out,no signings.we,ve seen it all before.we,ve had 8 months to sign a centre half and still not managed it
