Big Val - young players will be drawn to this club on what he has achieved alone in one season - and if some of the big names are sold on then so be it - that is another reason for young players to come to this club, they know they will be given a chance if they apply themselves properly and that will benefit them going forward in terms of furthering their career - I don't think we can ever go back to the Wilson pure football days as players with class cost a lot of money which is not part of the boards remit - so I think it will be more high octane stuff IF we can keep Big Val - the board should pull out all the stops to keep him - what do you guys think?

I'm thinking about the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Pied Piper.

We are creating a side on based youth and experience. We’ve gone from 3 that had played at what we’d call championship or possible equivalent. to 11+, we need that experience to push us forward.

We have a talented head coach in Valerien Ismael. I hope the group continue to want to develop and if they stay together for a couple of years (I know it's very hopeful) who knows where we could end up. I see the team and head coach in a similar vein to Wilson and the team mid-90s, very talented - could beat anyone on their day, but ultimately falling short of promotion. Then in 96/97 it all came together. So with the correct investment and a couple of additions here and there, who knows......

    Up the Reds :)

We need some cool heads in this window. Mowatt's replacement needs to be a talisman. The two strikers need to be clinical as well. The left back has to be comfortable in advanced positions. I'd try and bring Scowen back (give him the captaincy) and make Styles into our ball playing central midfield maestro.

I don't agree on Scowen, sorry mate. The recruitment has been exceptional in the last 12 months, so I'll just trust them to bring in the right quality

Where do we get a midfield general from though that makes everything tick?

I think Styles needs to be moved into the middle now. He has sufficient experience. An older head would be useful in the squad. If Mowatt & Solly leave then there could be a case for one & some sort of leeway on wages for the right player.

Kane might come good and we haven't seen Christie-Davies. Val or new Head Coach will want to run the rule over Ritzmaier too. It isn't as desperate as I first thought.

I had the sun'lan game on in the background and I'd agree with you, that although I liked Scowen, I'm not sure he's as tenacious as he once was, but that was a one game sample, so it may have been an off day.

And agree on the recruitment of late, though it has been a completely altered market because of the pandemic. James, Dike and Morris were improvements on what we had. Hopefully Kane and Kitching can evolve and show they are better or at least equal to those whose places they may ultimately take.

Agreed, although all the signings can't be diamonds. It isn't a magic conveyor belt :)

I don't know mate. However, the recruitment process that brought in DK has to be respected and allowed time to find such person

Il add Dane to the mix ....too
He's been excellent and let's not forget his input in getting DD .....another who we can't afford to lose....and originally I'd have said I was one of his biggest critics on here
So credit where credit is due
