We were ***** on Saturday. Front to back, no exceptions. No battle, no guile no craft no determination no nowt. It's gone now. The players and manager let us down. A lot of people wanted to beat Donny, but it was not to be. This is the reason for a lot of people being unhappy. Andy Ritchie appears (on the evidence of one game) to have made a mistake in declining to add a presence like Horlock to his squad. But he's bound to make mistakes and we have to live with it. However, it does not make someone a poor fan if they call into question his judgement, it makes them someone who cares. Overall,he's done a good job as per the league table. We know on several occasions that we have been poor but have picked up one or even three points, but we are, in his words "exceeding expectations". The players and management need to believe that they are good enough to go up. I fear that some do not. All we can do is hope that they take the opportunity to put things right straight away against Port Vale. Ultimately, Andy Ritchie will live and die by more results than Saturday's and in order to live he will need to get more right than he gets wrong. It remains to be seen if he has indeed made a mistake in not bringing some experience in. Let's get our comments on what was wrong out of the way and hope Tuesday night is much better and the result is more of what we need....
as is so often the voice of reason it would be nice to judge one of our managers on his second full season in charge. its been a while since we have been abloe to do that. its early days yet so far so good.
RE: as is so often the voice of reason I wouldn't mind being able to judge a manager on his first full season in charge! Only had 1 manage it since Wilson left!
That's because.. none of them have been up to it or were the wrong appointments, except perhaps Gudjon....
absolutely spot on must say i was well annoyed after saturday, but my rage was exacerbated by the fact i live with a donny fan. here's to the final push. can't wait for april - blackpool away on 22nd, then arctic monkeys at blackpool empress ballrooms on 23rd
RE: That's because.. or even given time to prove they are up for it? Fergie is a prime example it took him 4/5 years to win something at man u with a hell of a lot more money than any manager at barnsley has had!
RE: That's because.. Spackman was never going to make it. Hendrie, although his achievements look great in comparison to those of Spackman and Parkin made a lot of mistakes and ultimately was the wrong appointment.Parkin was a lower league toiler who came to a club with problems bigger than he could deal with, again the wrong appointment. Hodges truly did have it hard, but got virtually no credit 9not saying he would have made it). Gudjon was shafted and Hart was once again, the wrong appointment who had a poor managerial record.... Poor appointments coupled with a financially collapsing club has led to to where we are today. Which of the previous managers would you have given more time to? Gudjon is the only one for me. Parkin should have gone at the end of the releagtion season, but I guess the looming financial trouble sort of decided that one...
Oh and... Fergie had already achieved in Scotland and therefore had a track record of success before he went even further with Man U. The only recent managers with any kind of track record is Bassett and Gudjon. One lost the plot and one got stabbed in the bot.
exactly one lost the plot? why did we not give him more time instead of been rash, maybe we over achieved that playoff season thanks to a couple of players? and this with probably the manager with the most proven record we had ever had! when managers are only getting 10 months to prove themseleves it is always an uphill task!!!
I mean lost the plot in... wanting to sign Brett Angel. and signing dross like Chettle, Neil, Brown, Jones etc
Remember Wolves in the promotion season?? Just the same as Donny now. We pissed that league in 96/7, but wouldn't have got owt from Wolves if we'd played 'em every week!! Outthought & outfought both games, IIRC. Made promotion ahead of that tw@t McGhee all the sweeter. Just calm down, dear...

We drew 3-3 in the away game We were 3-1 up at half time and from what I remember we pissed on them for much of the match only to concede a very late and very gutting equaliser.
Iwan tw4tting Roberts ... ... my memory is a bag of ballax - but didn't the gappy toothed buffoon stroll off the bench & score with his first kick at the end of the game? I think he also missed a sitter at the end to win it. Probably got the wrong game, in the wrong year against the wrong club - but so be it.
That was the game Came on as a sub late on and bagged the equaliser. Another player that always seemed to score against us.
I was there ... ... but away games involving Roberts scoring all seem to blur into one for me. By the way - the phrase ''toothless simpleton'' was designed for Iwan. I have a text message from one of the lads on my phone which simply reads ''which one of you toothless simpletons has let my tyres down?''. Class.
See how much I'm right an' that?!!? IIRC = I is reight ****.
Whatever. Donny Schmonny. Last time we'll have to play the pikeys for a long while.
