seems strange listening to so called new evidence on't news that miners weren't throwing missiles when the police charged and went mental and assaulted people, thats what i knew all't time .
was there mate police just charged, one on a horse hit my mate who is the most gentlest person God made with a truncheon and split his head open still can,t comb or touch that side of his head. stayed with him till medics came. He got sent to York for sentencing plod told judge he so him throw stone at horse utter rubbish. lost his job and redundancy
I've known that for years and I wasn't there. That and the story on the news about a car being overturned and burnt out in Grimey during strike (when I knew it was a wrecked car that the owner had asked them to torch so he could claim on insurance) have always made me sceptical about what I see on the news. I'mm be writing to my MP (Dan Jarvis) about this and requesting he push for all government documents to be released.
Im not a miner and wasnt at the time but it was apparent then to me from many genuine people that I knew in the industry that the police were very heavy-handed, particularly when southern officers were drafted in. As usual the state stinks and the working-classes come out of it with very little whatsoever. The fabrication of statements is not a surprise to me and the complicity of the courts is not either. I'm also not surprised that its taken nearly 30 years to come out. The length of time for the revelations to be leaked also gives the state time to look back and pretend its sorry and offer a meaningless investigation into police corruption. As I said, the state stinks.
yes i was there too, we went down to front line to carry a lad from sunderland back to his bus, he'd been so badly injured he needed hospital but his mates said he'd been done on a picket line and was told if he got caught on another one he'd be sent down and lose his job and that he'd got three kids etc, he was in a right state but we all knew bobby's were waiting at rotherham hospital to arrest the injured (hence the fixed statements). his mates went to round rest of bus up to get him back to sunderland and to hospital. whilst we were helping him a few of us were hit by the police it was a disgusting act on their part.
hopefully there could be some long awaited and deserved justice for him out of this with a good chunk of lost wages etc. although i wouldn't hold my breath its a tory gov't thats in and they like to do their dirty deeds and discussions in private especially with the law lords
orgreave wasnt the only place/time where lads were wrongfully arrested,it happened all over the ,before and after orgreave. The num has been fighting for years to get some sentences overturned.Maybe now the time has come,I hope this report opens a right can of worms for the government and the police. If some get the justice they deserve then they could be in line for a right payout for their lost service, pensions etc. I hope a review does take place and I hope the government(thatcher) gets roped in aswell, because she is as much to blame as the senior cops,it was that cow that gave them the go ahead to do as they please.
Thatcher Unlike Jimmy Savile, her sins should be exposed before she snuffs it (I'll not hold my breath though). An utter disgrace if she gets a state funeral.
Re: Thatcher Was there too, When that charge came it was every man for themselves, remember running through some fields to get away from the horses, Went picketing all over Notts, while the union were sat in Pub, here lads some petrol money, Got fed up with getting nowhere with picketing so with a gang of miners went down Lincolnshire working on Farms did potatoes/cabbages/brussel sprouts/onion bagging, Also my house(top of valley got pelted with stones when the Police burning car incident took place, I was away down Lincolnshire when this happened.Thatcher has a lot to Answer for.
It's almost like the police made the story up and passed it to the papers who printed it without challenge. Had miner's had camera phones the police wouldn't have got away with it.
orgreave certainly wasn't an isolated case in fact the yorkshire miners myself included were going to orgreave after picketing in nott's days before the infamous day and were getting thumped twice a day, thats when the union asked for some recognition and miners from across the country, steeleworkers and people from all walks of life converged on orgreave. on that day the mood was sober and jovial not at all confrontational all untill the riot, and horse brigade started to gather.then charged without warning scattering and battering in their wake, there were plenty of camera;s there that day which confirmed the miners side of the story and was dismissed. just like the camera's at hilsborough that were showing people in the top tier helping the poor fans below but unbelievably the police report said they were urinating on them contrary to all visible evidence. the top people who were in charge of the police that allowed this denial are absolute scum and should have any honours or pensions immediately withdrawn
Getting in and out of Notts/Lanc was a Job in its self, getting turned around at road blocks, then finding a back lane park car up, then leg it over fields to Mine entrance, It sure felt like a covert mission to just get to the pits, then there were those that just took petrol money, and never even tried.
