When looking at hotel photos on sites like Booking.com or Trip Advisor, why do people upload photos of themselves? It serves no purpose.
Some people are daft and just upload a batch without checking. Some people are genuinely so self obsessed they think we want to see them. In a similar vein, we often check out YouTube reviews of potential holidays, and recently came across a couple who thought a 15 minute video of ‘them’ that barely showed the hotel amenities might be useful
They do, but these aren't supposed to be holiday snaps I'm looking at. They are meant to be what the hotel looks like.
Yes, but if its people leaving reviews and photos it's likely they will have friends and family on them?
I've picked a random hotel - Photos of Hard Rock Hotel Madrid, not the one I was looking at Nice place ... click next .... more of the hotel ... click next ... Well you get the idea https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel.../585073630:p/?albumid=101&type=0&category=101
Some of them (especially the last one) are a bit person centric! I’d rather have more pictures and some be like that though, you can see yourself there a bit more than just a picture of an empty room. It also gives you a clue as to what sort of people you might bump into there! I guess it also depends on why they are reviewing. For other customers to see, it may not be that helpful a picture but if it’s for the owners to see what a nice time they had then it’s a lovely thing to include.
Actually, I think maybe seeing actual realistic people looking like they're enjoying themselves might sway me towards this hotel.
