Its not that great for sports fans either - now to watch football cricket or rugby you need to subscribe to both Sky sports and BT sport - not quite sure how that benefits the consumers
Well this is what 'the market' is all about isn't it - competition....... only I can't see Sky reducing their subscription rates because they've lost the ashes Looks like the consumer will end up paying more and more and more
“BT Sport put forward a highly compelling bid for the rights to broadcast cricket from Australia to audiences throughout the United Kingdom. In other words they paid more cash than sky. It's seems strange that they value cricket so highly, sky's viewing figures for this years home games have been pitiful. it's good there will be free to air highlights still.
And they're really going for it now. Competition for our appearance on SS...... http://sport.bt.com/sport-football/...ons-league-qualifier-for-free-S11363999057321
***** news in my opinion. Sky Sports cricket coverage is the best sports coverage out there, BT will do well to get anywhere near them. Can just see them taking a feed from Channel 9 and putting Dominic Cork in a studio with Mark Butcher. Will mean I've got to pay for BT and for Sky now to watch the cricket which will cost me more.
No, because BT can afford it. Streaming TV is only a part of their business. As mentioned elsewhere, this is a loss-leader to help (re)capture phone and broadband customers.
