Top marks to them all because I have no idea how they kept up their noise and enthusiasm today. I could have happily gone home at half time. It may be a sign of my age but I just cant turn on enthusiasm with nothing to be enthusiastic about.
Fair point about them keeping it up, but could I just add a note of criticism about it. I was towards that corner, nearer the front and every time I turned round the noise and singing was being aimed at the "crew" just across the divide. It's the away day fans scenario isn't it? You sing and shout as loud as you can AT the other fans, not in support of the team. Fair dos - better that than silence, but let's put things into perspective. One other thing - can anyone on here who was part of the choir today answer these two questions: 1. Why are you singing a moronic song about the Yorkshire Ripper? It's pointless as well as being offensive. Why keep doing it? 2. Why sing racist stuff like "you're just a town full of P....s" when our team has four black/mixed race players in it? Is it ok to racially abuse the opposition players and fans because our players are deaf?
Ok, if so I apologise. It sounded like the other thing. That's been sung before though hasn't it, so my argument still stands about racial abuse. We haven't been to Bradford yet so no doubt it will get a good airing there. Actually you could argue that Pikeys is term of racial abuse as well, apart from the fact that it is just rubbish! I live near Doncaster, and also in Harrogate, and there are probably as many caravans in Harrogate as there are in Doncaster In fact, probably more - they've got more money.
Well I could, and I will later when the memory of another wasted afternoon has faded. Then I'll be all revved up and raring to go again for the next match. I've missed too many in my lifetime of exile to let a little thing like losing stop me from going again, and again, and again...... What I hate though, and always have done, is this constant war of attrition between the "singers". Those fools on the other side of the divide are only there so they can exchange a bit of witty banter with the away fans. They are not sitting there because it's a good place to watch the match, are they? I would like to bet that individuals on both sides will watch about ten minutes of the football, if that. The rest they spend turned at 90 degrees to the pitch snarling their abuse at each other. Pointless isn't it?
Thing is mate they pay the money same as me ad you, so if that what they like to do then so be it! Without them in the stadium it would of been like watching a game of cricket.
You've not been on the Western Terrace at Headingley then Seriously, I know that it creates some atmosphere and that game didn't deserve any at all, did it. It's just a pity that the energy put into singing a stupid song about a mass murderer isn't diverted into supporting the TEAM. That's what I go for and that's why we are called football supporters.
Don't argee with them singing some stuff, but that's part and parcel of football. And Mabey just Mabey if we had anything to shout about on the pitch the fans might sing about the team.
i wouldn't know. Don't make a study of these things. Probably more caravans though, and camper vans. They've just got a lot more money and a lot more powerful 4x4s to pull them. Doubt you would call Harrogate people Pikeys though.
