We win against Forrest BANG!!! best team we have had in years then we start losing, drop below wednesday and they all start shouting Keith Hill out. Next thing you know we score and its KEITH HILLS RED AND WHITE ARMY sung from the raftas, what do you want Keith out or Keith in? No doubt the next manager we get they will say great choice, if we dont stay up they will kick off saying get rid, 9 managers in 11 years since 2001. Not saying sacking Hill was the wrong choice, but then again we should never have let Ritchie go in my opinion, or Robins. we cant swap and change managers every other year or every 18 month, it doesnt work properly as you can see. For me, if we get a new manager now and go down we should still stick with him give him a chance, if he takes us up he will be a god, if he doesnt he will be the devil and no doubt another manager will come in. Stick with the manager and the club and get behind the team, NO MATTER WHAT. Its what we need
So you're saying we've got fans who enjoy it when we win but are disappointed when we lose? Same as every other set of fans then.
How many chants of Hill Out did you hear? Or Ritchie out? Or Robins Out? None. That is because the "board" sacked them. The last manager the fans wanted out and demanded it in a loud way was Simon Davey! And he had the longest of of the lot of em!
You can only stand by a manager if he is doing what he was asked to do. In Hills case he was making a bad situation worse and was only taking us one way so he had to go (he should have gone a few weeks ago). Unfortunately the early signs that he was a good manager turned out to be wrong and it soon transpired that he is far from being a good manager.
While I agree in principle that we should stick with a manager..... ... it needs to be the right man. Hill had all the right qualifications for what we needed, or more importantly, what we could afford. However, he doesn't seem to have had the wit to see when things were going wrong, and how to change them. After the Brum result away, teams sussed us out. That's when a change of tactics was needed, but we persevered with the same one, even when it was obvious it wasn't working. Yesterday, as soon as I saw the team, I thought Hill hoped we might snatch a point against Blackburn, and was going to put out a stronger side against P'boro where he believed we might win. This was lunacy in my opinion. We need our strongest side on the pitch at all times, especially in the situation we find ourselves in. And as been pointed out, Hill has got away quite lightly from the fans. There were a few half-hearted "Hill out", and "Sacked in the morning" chants but they didn't last long at all. The fact is most of the crowd seemed to be resigned to relegation. I feel that we expect to lose now, and going to the games is a duty, rather than a pleasure. The next managerial appointment needs to be one that will inspire the fans, and renew the belief that we can get out of this awful mess we are in. "Get the team playing and winning first, and sort out the rest later" (BigLil, 2012).
Re: While I agree in principle that we should stick with a manager..... Don't pay any attention to that daft, old sod. He knows bugger all!
Re: While I agree in principle that we should stick with a manager..... I had heard something similar. I think it was Crystal told me!!
A wise lady For what it's worth, my choice would be either Sean O'Driscoll or Owen Coyle. But that's without me knowing the salary these managers would want, what salary we would be prepared to pay, whether a compromise could be reached between the two, whether the candidates would be prepared to work within the budget constraints and the off the field set up within the club. I doubt anyone posting on here does either, despite their claims to the contrary.
Re: A wise lady I think the suggestion of a comparitively low basic wage, but with a healthy bonus for keeping us up is a good idea. However, looking at the position we are in, it would need someone with a helluva big belief in themselves to even contemplate it. And if it takes hoof-ball to keep us up, I won't argue.
The last two managers Brought in were from lower down the leagues, but had done sufficiently well enough at that level to prompt Mr Cryne to think they could do a job for us. The two before that were promotions from within the club. It is my opinion that this time we'll go for a Championship experienced manager, simply because of the position we're now in.
always been the same, we perform on the pitch the support will be there. We have no one else to blame but Keith constantly changing the team and tactics, previous managers at least stuck with the usual same 11 rather than chopping and changing all the time.
