I can not recall a Barnsley team in the last ten years that have the fitness levels as this current team have. From the 1st minute to the 96th minute they are still running their bo11ocks off closing down and creating opportunities. Sent from my SM-G800F using Tapatalk
Fittest Barnsley team I think I've ever seen. There's been many a game during the second half of the season where the opposition have matched us in the first half, but they tire in the second and we don't. We keep up the same level of performance throughout the 90 minutes and win the game. It's about attitude too I think. The players are determined to give everything they've got every single game: for their own professional pride, for their team mates, for the manager, for the fans and for the club. Whatever happens at Wembley, it's been an amazing season. I'm as proud and as fond of this group of players as I have been of any of the great Barnsley teams we speak of from the past. I hope we do it. Not just for me, not just for us fans, but for our players too. They're a credit to the much-maligned game of football.
100% agree Jay.........after the Colchester match there were a few on here commenting that some players had played more games than others in this league, looked tired etc etc but we have seen its the attitude of the players that is so important, positive thinking we have some very good players at this level and as long as we carry on with the same mentality we beat 95% of the teams in this league. A very strong central defence ......two very capable centre midfielders and severe pace and or trickery in wide areas and upfront...oh and a a very tidy keeper. Like you say whatever happens.......proud, very very proud (imho we WILL win the final). COYR
Thats my exact same view too Jay. Was going to start a post, but better to add to this. Up to December, even January, I thought we were going down. I saw a scared, confused team completely lacking in confidence and consumed by fear. This team though, is as hungry as I've ever seen. Technically good, fearless and playing with a confidence where not only do they think they are better than the opponent, but they are keen to demonstrate that superiority through hard work, skill and persistence on the pitch. The result was never in doubt when you saw the teams come out. The look in the eyes of Hourihane. Absolutely love this team. It's been a long painful time where I could last identify with a Barnsley team. This one I absolutely can.
I was watching Conor in the tunnel before the game. Absolutely steely and focused, you just knew he was totally consumed with a determination to go out and do a job. And he did. He's a very impressive character. So glad he's in OUR team.
When you see the likes of Winnall, Hammill, Isgrove and Fletcher lose the ball up field and then chase back to their own penalty area yer just know how much it means to em. Everytime I`ve doubted them this year they have proved me wrong. Hats off to em whatever the outcome at Wembley been a great 2016 so far.
You are right - there was a pile of ill informed tosh posted a few days ago about how certain players were knackered. Well they aren't.
Walked back to the car with some very gracious Walsall fans yesterday. They were all saying how fit our team looked. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
It's not just about fitness it's about pace and we have it all over the field. I seem to remember the clubs recruitment policy was to sign players with pace.
