Unless they rapidly change within the next five hours by signing at least one striker leads me to think that well struggle to stop up never mind consolidate and push on. All foreplay and no penetration.
I don't think we'll go down but unless we address our areas of obvious weakness I think we'll be looking at another season hovering around mid table. We've had plenty of time to bring players in so I'm not holding my breath.
A couple of key injuries would sink us, we have a half decent first eleven (minus a left back) but precious little beyond that except more tippy-tappy centre midfielders. The weakest squad for many a long year, lacking strikers (spectacularly so), full backs, wingers and some midfield ****-housery (hence players like Morsy for Chesterfield and Rafferty for Rochdale having absolute field days against us). Targets like Smith, Kelly, Yiadom and O'Sullivan would have fitted the bill but if these aren't/weren't coming, between Mansford and Johnson there should have been multiple back-up options identified months ago. Most of the time I tend towards the happy-clapping end of the spectrum and have little truck with the group of perennial moaners but unless something changes in the next four and a half hours I can't see there being much to applaud for the foreseeable. I sincerely hope I am deleting this post this evening having been pleasantly surprised.
Given our current squad and inevitable injuries I'd expect us to finish bearer the bottom 6 than the top 6. I'm also usually one if the happy clappers too.
