See below the prices we have been charged for away fixtures and then look at the prices for the reverse fixture at Oakwell... Nottingham Forest - £25 Forest fans will have to pay £30 at Oakwell Reading - £23 Reading fans will have to pay £30 at Oakwell Millwall - £24 Millwall fans will have to pay £30 at Oakwell And from looking at Birmingham City's official website it looks like we'll be paying £18.50 to get in at St. Andrew's whilst Birmingham fans will have to pay £30 at Oakwell. Looking at Derby's official website it looks like we'll be paying £25 to get in at Pride Park whilst Derby fans will have to pay £30 at Oakwell. And we charged £12 for our pre-season friendlies, whilst we were charged £10 at Hibs, Hartlepool and Scunny.
I've got much more of a problem with the fact that it is 30 quid for home fans, nearly every game. I reckon that the club have played out a massive experiment with prices this season and early indications are that it will fall flat on its arse. The club appear to have made match day prices so out of synch with ST prices that it is almost ridiculously obvious that people should get ST's if they attend on a fairly regular basis. You could miss nearly half the games this year and still be better off with a ST. Problem is, no one has taken any notice, and ST's look static at best, perhaps slightly down on last year (although some may be on hols). now, with those without STs facing 30 quid match day prices for nearly every game for the rest of the season, I can see attendances being WELL down on last year. Whoops!
If I turned up at oakwell at 2:55pm on the saturday of a category A match last season it would cost me £25. If I do the same this season it would cost me £30. Is that not correct?
use your brains and make a member and get you ticket for the next game when you go to oakwell or book on line
in response to the OP, we are Barnsley. we are probably, along with Donny and Peterbro, the 3 matches for the clubs u mentioned that are the least anticipated by their club/fans. hence the price. wheras our club just likes the idea that 16 games this season are HUGE...
It won't encourage away fans to travel will it? Once they relalise what is happening they may stay at home. I wouldn't dare ask away fans to pay more than they charge us. Its hardly fair is it?
What is your point exactly I paid £3.30 for a bottle of Kopperberg in one pub in Cudworth the other night, then paid £3.10 in another, I paid £3.40ish in Bramah's the night before, they can charge what they want. The same applies to football clubs, someone at the club has obviously worked out that to maximise profit with the projected gate's we get, we should charge £30 a ticket for the majority of games. If you don't want to pay it, you don't have to, but like most seasons, if you want to go to the game, which most people do, you'll pay it. I'd bring up my comparison again, but I really can't be bothered to write it again.
Re: What is your point exactly why can't you join that discount thing for a £10 and get £5 off each cat a game? If you care so much just take the discount and let our club cash in on the away suport of other teams. it make sence to me charge £30 to the highest away gates of the season and offer all home fans a discount if they attend 3 home matchs. what's to moan about? you have to pre book?
It won't but then again They didn't come last season, with the odd exception (Leeds mainly). Other than Leeds, we don't tend to get many away supporters anyway, so in all honesty, if they want to come they will same as last year, same as before. Last season: Cat A game £25 ...................Cat B game £20 ...................Cat C game £16 Attendances were very similar, approx 10,000 home fans, and 500 away fans. It makes sense for the club to charge Cat A for the majority becuase its been proven that there isn't a significant rise in attendance when we charge at Cat C price. Not sure why they've bumped it up to £30 but if the attendances are the same, or similar, it makes sense.
Re: It won't but then again If they made the away end cheaper than the home fans, then potentially you could have home fans in the away end = trouble
