Do the people saying we haven't improved think we'd be where we are in the league now if Muller and Anderson hadn't been ruled out for 7-9 months?

I know football is a squad game, etc, but I'd say our starting XI when all are fit is a damn sight stronger than last season.

    It looks stronger on paper

But the results don't bear that out.

I think we've missed De Silva, but as good as Muller is I don't think we'd have performed any better with him in the side, as his replacement has been equally as adept. In fact, I think we would have probably lost at Liverpool and people would be gnashing their teeth even more.

True but he isnt as good an all round keeper as Muller

Not blaming Steele for any points we dropped but Muller may have made a difference, points when he was playing far exceed ones when he wasnt - bit simplistic I know but we may have been more solid at the back with Muller in.

I still think the loss of Werling cost us more than some people think

    Steele Isn't Conceeding Many.........

but the lack of goals at the other end is making people point their finger at him more. Even with Muller fit again, I reckon Steele should start next season.

Steele is not in the Same League as Muller

Muller is the best keeper i have ever seen at oakwell, his all round ability and commanding prescence is unbelievable
Steele is not bad, but is def over rated by a lot of our fans. He flaps a lot and his kicking and distribution is shocking

I my opinion the player we've missed the most is Anderson De Silva..... If he'd have been playing for the past 3 months I think we'd probablby be 8/9 pts better off and well away from the relagation zone. Try as he might Hassle just aint a midfielder.... wish someone would tell that to davey!!!!!!!

Its the replacing of De Silva that has cost us, whats the point in having Togwell at the club. Steele set himself a high standard
and has got worse every week, he's got a lot of improving to do.

Don't think there are many championship midfielders with the class of Da Silva-if Brian H leaves we can build a competetive Championship side around him Foster and Macken for next season (must stay up though!). Both our Keepers have done wonders this season but Muller is an outstanding signing hope he is as good when he returns.

Agree about Werling. He added a presence to the side. Difficult to put your finger on it but we looked a better team with him in it. If Muller, Da Silva and Werling had played all season we would be well up the table.

    Interesting thing about Steele was

The West Brom fans reaction at the hotel we stayed at for Semi. They said to a man that they were glad to get rid. in the two games he played he was terrible.
My view is he is still young some good some bad, room to improve but glad we have him. In comparison to Muller I believe Muller is the better keeper but he has his moments too!

I used to pronounce the 'g' in gnasher when I read the beano

    I'm technically a "enius".

I hope this helps settle the Davey Out debate.

muller is a good keeper but he was far from perfect

Regularly punching and in turn putting us back under pressure when catching was far easier. His injury came as a direct result of him trying to punch when it wasn't required.

I'll tell you summat mate - I completely agree! The loss of Werling, Muller and Anderson have all had a detrimental effect imo. Steele has done a decent job, and he still has many years of learning to do, but I don't think he's anywhere near as good as Muller. I don't feel anywhere near as confident in Steele as I do when Muller is in.

And for me we have definately missed Werling, especially at home. Can't comment away as I rarely travel, but we had more of an attacking edge when he played.

muller has a presence on the field because of his hieght wich instils confidence in his defence, but i think steele is equaly as good.

    Maybe so...

But for me he's comfortably better than Steele or any other goalkeeper we've had in recent times (and thats not to say that Steele isn't a decent keeper, because he is.)

Watch the highlights of a lot of the games we won/drew this season, and Heinz made brilliant saves in nigh-on all of them.
