    I think Ritchie....

knows he's not good enough. I'm convinced we will sign a new striker before the month is up.

It's likely to be Marc Richards if we can compete on wages

Who else at the club can do Conlons job ???

Have we got another 6'3" battering ram of a guy waiting in the wings ready to come on and do the job ???
    NO !!!
If yer old enough you will remember a guy called Trevor Aylott - similar player to Conlon - how many did Aylott score ???
Not many, but he provided for others in the team. One of the problems we've got is that there isn't a goal scorer breaking forward from the middle of midfield. We had a few in Aylotts team.

    Battering Ram?

If Conlon's a battering ram, then Paul Hayes must be a brick shithouse.

Conlon is a fairy, and a poor one at that. Lazy, lacking aggression. Three times in the first half balls dropped for a striker to pounce inside the 6 yard box, and where was he?

    Outside the box.

    Not good enough.

Did very well yesterday, Burns was outstanding. I was well impressed. Still they were very deep in the second half, that was the difference between our performance in both halfs for me.

    RE: Burns and McPhail

i think brentfords tactics were spot on in the second half and shored it up for them.

    RE: Battering Ram?

Well.. Where were the midfielders? More than 1 in the box would be useful

I bet neither of you would say that to his face

Neither would I like, which sort of suggests to me he's not a fairy.

You cannot be serious comparing Conlon with Aylott. Conlon could not lace his boots.

He could definitely add a bit more aggression to his game

He's not my favourite player and he's extremely limited in certain areas, but I think folk are being a bit unfair on him at present. He's been out of the game for 7 months and yesterday was only his second game back. It'll be another month at least until he's up to speed. I don't think he's ever going to be the type of player to fire us to promotion (I don't think Ritchie does either, Conlon is not his first choice) but I reckon the performances he put in for the first few months last season prove he can do a job and that he's got more about him than what he's delivering at present. Our problem is that we don't have anyone else while Conlon gets back in to the swing of things. Nardiello was always going to be injury prone. When Ritchie signed him he knew he had a nerve problem in his back. I think it was a bit naive of him to start the season with only Conlon as cover. Hopefully we'll get another striker before the deadline. Sounds like it might be Marc Richards. Don't know much about the lad, but his stats aren't particularly inspiring. Although if we do get him I obviosly hope he does well for us.

Conlon is a donkey that should be playing Sunday League Football, we lost out on 2 points cos ofd his inept ability in the box and finishing
