    How do I delete a message that is clogging up my outbox? I've tried every way I can think of, but when I try to delete it says I can't as it has started transmitting the message ... that was Wednesday & it's still sitting there... (too big attachment) Any ideas?

    On your pc, I dont know where, there will be a folder that stores all your Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Drafts etc, as files. If you can locate this folder, you should be able to delete the message manually. I'll try to find out where it will be stored.

    Just found this mate;

    From the Outlook Express menu select Tools | Options | Maintenance and click the StoreFolder button. You see a dialog with the name of the directory that has your mail files. If you look in that directory you find files named after your mail folders and news groups. They all have a .DBX suffix. Outlook Express keeps all messages in these database files.

    See if that's where they are stored.

    Try this then mate;

    Make sure show hidden files is enabled under Windows Explorer under Tools->Folder Options->Views->Show Hidden Files and Folders

    The DBX files that Outlook Express uses are located in:

    c:\ (or whatever drive windows resides on)
    Documents and Settings
    Username (your username)
    Application Data
    Identities
    GUID Identifier (random string like {3B0FA092-2222-1111-A1B2-111A1AA1AAA11}
    Microsoft
    Outlook Express

    Where it says Windows Explorer, I think it means Control Panel.

    Sorted - I put O.E. into Safe mode & it let me delete!

    Thanks for all your help. My p.c. wouldn't let me do all that stuff you suggested - something to do with network & me not having authorisation. Anyway it's gone!

    Try ...

    Launching the internet first, clicking to work offline. Then launch OE, as you're working offline it shouldn't try to send the mail with the large attachment and you just delete it from your outbox.

    Just out of curiosity - how big was the file you were sending?

    15MB I think

    It was a series of photos I was trying to send - just clicked on forward without thinking... I think our server only allows 5MB (which is useless - nothing is going out!)
