Is the win percentage of Mickey Mellon as a manager of over 200 games.

    Certainly surprised me.

I know he was backed well financially at Fleetwood, but still.

    Made me more optimistic.

Whitey I'm sure you are aware, you only really start to see a 50% from likes of Prem top 4 or constant promotion contenders.

Look at it how you may, but to win half of your games is fookin good

Which is why Wilson would be the perfect appointment for me, because by next season we will be in L1. To not be relegated, the new boss needs to take this side, playing like a pub team, and win half of our remaining games this season, at a win rate of 50%, just to reach 50 points. (assuming he is appointed after losses to Brighton and Burnley)

I seriously hadn't thought to check him out, but having read his wiki page, and a few other articles, I'm impressed.

I'm not suggesting he gets the job, just that I'm more optimistic with him in charge than I was this morning.

If he sets us up using wing backs, with Bobby in at sweeper, and drops Kennedy, Perkins and M'Voto, he'll be impressing me quite quickly.

I think he was treated very poorly by Fleetwood, I cannot get my head around sacking a manager that gets you promoted and in the top 4 ! Ok they lost 3 on the bounce but there must have been something else going off ?

Not worked out well for them since.

As caretaker managers go, he's not a bad un on paper.

Impressive as it is, Fleetwood's model very different to Barnsley. Personally I want to see the whole regime gone. Fresh start

Im just slowly losing the patience. These last few years have been awful, truly awful. have we ever had an away form as bad in the clubs entire history? who is the stat man on here, id love to see how many games we have won away in the last 3 seasons. Mellon in charge of the club would be the final straw

We need to be finally rid of the whole Hill/Flitcroft era, so that means getting rid of Mellon too. He's not that man that is gonna take us forward IMO, not by a long shot. There's only one candidate in my eyes... "Walking a long, singing a song..." Work it out, yanno it makes sense.

Would be an interesting experiment, especially seeing as Steve Cooper died 2-3 years ago...

It'll be 10 years in February since he died.

One of my all time Barnsley heroes. Real tragedy that he died so young.

Is it really that long? He was one of my heroes from my teens too.
