Flicker and everyone Ive heard from the club, have been very guarded against any kind of forecast of great things this season...no need to remind everyone how close we were to the drop last season again..And I know we beat Hull Leicester and a few more, which was great, but they were all in the middle of terrible runs, where the pressure was on.. Iam not taking anything away from what happened in the second half of last season..which was one of thee most memerable in the 40 years ive been watching..but that will very hard to recapture...I think also we will be a little more respected this time round which in away is good but, it will be harder to catch teams playing only at half revs, so to speak.. If things don't go today, as people have run them through there minds...the reality a 5 pm may be different...dont think its the end of the world..***** this and ***** that...cos one thing ive learned with coming on here for the last few years, are some of the people how shout loudist about how great we and things are...are the very same people that slag the most when things go a bit tits up.. Iam sure we'll have a better season than the last few...but a bit of perspective and patience may be needed.. But long term am sure things on and off the pitch are as good, if not better than any of us dare hope only a year or two back...Ureds
A victory today will not mean we're promotion candidates, nor will we be in for a season of struggle if we lose. Only the few who go in for knee jerk reactions would claim otherwise. The reason we were deservedly beating the likes of Hull & Leicester is because we were better than them. We were as good as anyone in the Championship after Flitcroft took over. The fact that we were in the mire right up to the very end of the season was simply due to the poor results & points tally we'd had up to Flitcroft's appointment.
Beat Middlesborough early last season and look what happened. Although it's always nice to win the 1st game.
I'm hopeful more than expectant for this season. We have good people in control of our club, so lets back them regardless of the ups and downs that will no doubt ensue this season.
I've personally kept quiet about it on here cos I know I'll get my head bitten off but I do think we'll be lucky to escape the drop this year, and a preseason where we've not really won and conceded a lot has solidified that in my mind. Not going to not go, not going to boo or anything I just think everyone's got over excited by a half season where the players were playing far and away above what we can reasonably expect them to manage over the course of a full season.. Anyway here's to being proven wrong! Setting off up tarn narr. You reds!
