After reading Keith Hills comments I wonder if things have been blown up out of preportion. He mentions the minority of fans booing and as for the view he blames the fans for getting behind the team is just stupid. If anything hes having a go at the players for getting carried away and not doing there defensive duties.I heard his interview and have read the papers,am I offended by Hills comments?not in the least if I hadn't seen the threads on here I wouldn't have it a second thought. Just my opinion.
the thing that really puzzles me is that when hill came here everyone was over the moon that we had a manager who wasnt afraid to open his trap and be opinionated, be then when he did speak his mind half of the people who were happy suddenly became grossly offended, head scratching stuff
Yet another example of todays over-reactive society where people spend their lives looking for trouble that isn't there. There's far too many people who could start an argument in a room on their own, and the worst of all are those who love to dish it out but scream and bawl when they get some back. Get a life! Cue abuse.
He never mentioned "minority". He refered to the "fans" booing which tarnishes everyone with the same brush. At no point did he mention a "minority of fans" booing.
Shy talk, brilliant reply. Your dead right about folk on this board causing arguments in empty rooms.
I wasn't offended in the slightest by what he said or didn't say but I was pi$$ed off that he seemed to have an issue with booing and negativity after that sh.it performance yesterday. I didn't boo and I am still a massive fan of Hill but he has to try and get the fans, all of them, onside. There are times when players performances and team tactics are indefensible and yesterday was one of them times. I love his honesty and willingness to say what he thinks but sometimes he has to be honest about players being sh.it, disinterested and clueless.
100% Correct. People on here so desperate to justify themselves they've *****ed their pants at the slightest hint he might have 'had a go'. Still, it keeps them off the streets. Care in The Community etc.
Spot on....Makes me wonder how some of these on here would react if they faced a real crisis in their lives, oh! hold on, this thing they moan about (football) is their lives, so aye to them its a major crisis with what the manager said.... Like you say get a life....
I would tend to agree with the OP normally. In fact, if I had waited a day and not heard or read anything until that Chronicle online article, I too would have had no issue. But thats a day later. Before that, an hour after the game, I heard the radio interview with Keith and everything he said during that was a dig at THE fans. Not a section. Not a minority, THE fans. And you can read the enthusiasm quote in two ways. But blatantly admitting that WE in the crowd decide how the team plays on the pitch is absolute ******. Not to mention the fact the guy is the only one who doesnt understand that the reaction to MOM is always aimed at the sponsor. Only Hill believes otherwise. That folk were booing McButterly..
Gosh you don't think they 'interpreted ' the interview to make it less offensive to anybody who didn't hear the words come out of his mouth do you?
Don't think the Official Site have done themselves any favours with the highlighting of the true supporters bit. Fowk just need to calm the f.ck down.
The original interview that caused the uproar he made it sound like he was refering to all fans. It's easy on interviews after that to be more precise when someone at the club has probably told him what his original comments caused with the fans reaction. I think most people wouldn't care if someone said something they didn't agree with in life. It's the fact fans pay the wages of a man who gets titty lip on with them whenever we lose at home. My favourite comment he made was....... "They are seriously putting the fortunes of Barnsley Football Club in massive doubt." No Keith that would be the players and yourself with recent performances, with three defeats in four, shipping loads of goals and losing to the bottom of the league who had won one in eleven.
Have you read where he praised the fans for there second half support and how it raised the teams performence.
I've seen the interview and I can't understand what all the fuss is about. Some real whiny folk about. Mindst, some folk at the game were the same, shouting about how much they've paid to get in. Yeah, we all know how much you've paid, we all paid the same. Either accept it or sod off, but stop going on about it, it's been done to death.
