My lap top overheats and cuts off automatically after about 20 minutes use. It is always used from the mains.
Would it help to run the battery down or is there a bigger problem somewhere.
    Thanks

    i have the same problem.

tried to take the back off to check the fans are working properly & clean out.

Also bought myself a base with additional fans to help keep it cool.

Does work better but will every now & then decide to turn itself off.

Sounds as though the fan is blocked

I cured mine by putting a hoover against the fan outlet and lettng it suck all the dust out. Been working fine every since.

If it's not the fan that's clogged, then it will almost certainly be faulty RAM.

Hence the reason it keeps shutting down.
