Newcastle have had a club record fee accepted by Real Madrid.

    Player now talking terms........

Thought he was available for £10million at the start?

A fee has been agreed - don't think Owen has agreed yet. Remember Newcatsle's bid for Rooney, and how it jolted Man Utd into action? Maybe this will give Liverpool a kick up the backside.

"He said: "This morning Real Madrid and Newcastle United have reached the principles of an agreement on the conditions of Michael Owen's transfer to the English club.

"There is still no agreement between Michael Owen and Newcastle. At the moment we have not received any offer from Liverpool."

why would the Euro Champs want Owen?

"that man that midget" can only kick with his right foot, has a constantly dodgy hamstring and simply cannot play WITH anyone upfront.

send him to Newcastle with my best wishes.

I'm not an Owen fan either, but he does score goals.

to the detriment of overall team...

yes, he bags goals as long balls are hoofed over crap defences.

Then there's the crucial games, where he never gets a kick. There's a reason he's 5th choice at Real, and a reason the "big" clubs aren't after him. He's one dimensional.

but he could score the goals to take Newcastle to 14th, for sure.

He's not 5th choice. He had a good season at Real and scored plenty. No coach at Real will ever drop Ronaldo or Raul. It's the same as the Shearer situation at Newcastle. Anyway Baptista is a midfielder these days and Robinho a left winger so they're no threat to Owen.

He's not the complete striker by any means but he scores goals and that's the only thing that matters.

But he doesn't appear capable of playing alongside anyone, so fine if you just want to play one up front.

Anyway - what do Liverpool know?!

Buy Peter Crouch for £7m and sell Baros for £6.5m!

They got lucky last year, very very lucky.

I reckon this accepted bid from Newcastle will prompt Man Utd into a bid!! He will be wasted at Newcastle - although there is no doubt he will score goals.

Sorry but he scores goals regardless of who he plays alongside.

    Newcastle United like religion ,

Its the last bastion of the desparate.

Shearer will be happy if it is , as I have heard it states in his contract that if anyone signs for more money he automatically gets bumped up to the same salary.
