Fabulous deal for the National side Rooney and hopefully fit Owen playing together all season, hope it turns out to be another Fergie masterstroke.
I think it's one of his bad decisions. No doubt he'll prove me wrong, but Owen looks spent to me. Too many injuries. His major assets were that incredible instant acceleration and pace to burn. Both seem to have gone. I saw him against Pompey on tv last year and Sol Campbell gave Owen a two yard start and still bet him to the ball. Now, I know in his heyday Campbell was no slouch, but his heyday is long gone.
RE: Fabulous deal for the National side I'm finding it hard to believe that he's actually going to United....His confidence it seems is shot to ****, and i cant see even Ferguson lifting that, my only problem with him going there is that he don't drag Rooney down with him.... Having said that though, i would dearly love to see the Owen of old....
cant believe people think he has lost it. he played in an awful team which created very little and still nearly achieved 1 in 2 as he always does. He will get 15-20 goals at utd easy which will force him back into the england fold. Not a big utd fan but i think they have just helped us be more sucessful in the next world cup.
Hope you're right there.... To me it just seems unreal that they have signed him, obviously Fergie as seen something in him. In saying that though Martin O'Neil was after signing him and that is a guy i really do respect, so maybe me and a few others will be proved wrong, and I'd be well chuffed to admit to it....
Goal every other game in a bad, bad side. Proper spent force that is; I wish we had one. He'll score a shitload of goals for Man U. It's a marriage made in heaven.
Sol Campbell's "bet" Sol Campbell: "I bet you £10 I can catch you"</p> Michael Owen: "Go on then"</p> Sol Campbell: "Told you, you owe me £10!" </p>
I reckon he may do well .... ....Manurehave not had a 6 yard line finisher since Ruud Van Nistelroy left. </p> Provided he stays fit he'll get far more goal opportunities than Newcastle ever gave him</p>
Scored 1 out of every 3 chances he got last season apparently Best return in the Prem.</p> Ferguson doesn't sign many bad players. </p>
Its a great signing. Utd create plenty of opportunities and there is no better finisher in the game than Owen. He has lost some pace but if you give him the ball in and around the box he is deadly. Only 29 so he is nowhere near finished, could be one of his best seasons depending on him staying injury free. Not so sure about England, Capello just doesn't seem to rate him as highly as past managers. I would pick him for the squad though, Rooney, Heskey, Walcott and Owen with Agbonlahor as the 5th if he wants one.
Good luck to Owen at Man. U. I gather he has to have a very stringent medical before he can sign. Not surprising as he seems to have been under-performing for some time although being at Newcastle wont have helped.
As much as i hate Manure, and like Owen, i think it is the best deal for all:</p> Maunre have got a proven premier league and international goalscorer who WILL score minimum 10 goals next season</p> Owen will play at the very top - Premier League and Champions League and WILL get back into the England setup</p> </p> </p>
I think old bacon face could be losing the plot. Replace the best player in the world with a good player from a average/**** EPL team, replace Tevez 1 of the best strikers in the world with a player whos career has been going down hill since maybe before the world cup 06 who'll be lucky to play 15/20 games a season. No doubt the old **** will prove me wrong come May!!!!!!
