Great day out. Overall a deserved win by Barnsley. Oxfords legs seem to go in the second half and Barnsley went up a gear. I'm not going to bang on about missing players, the team gave their all and it wasn't quite enough on the day. Hope we both go up and with 2-3 additions to the squads both teams should be able to consolidate and push on from there. Your fans did you credit, friendly and good humoured
A fair summing up. You took the first half, and we upped it in the second. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Won or lost I thought both sets of fans were very gracious and enjoyed a day at wembley in the best way possible as it should be.... Good luck on the rest of the season!
Cheers for that pal, we were all saying on the way back that Oxford played really well and the game as a whole was a credit to the lower leagues, good luck for the rest of the season hopefully you'll get over the line.
Unfortunately I saw a few fans being bell ends. Two Oxford fans in front of us (one of them a woman) who were there with an even bigger ******** of a Barnsley fan. Then some idiots scrapping on the walk back. Still , 3 from 60k, can't complain..
Best of luck for the rest of the season Oxford, I was impressed by you in the first half and I'm sure you will be promoted this season. Yesterday was a cracking day, good weather, good game, and not a hint of any trouble - just how football should be.
Both sets of fans were a credit to their clubs. Had a great laugh in an Oxford pub, I did my best to outsing them... me and the 3 mates I was with (none of them Barnsley fans) Great spirit and I hope you get promoted this season.
There are always a few nobheads. I saw a Barnsley fan telling every Oxford fan to f**k O** every time sometime tried to congratulate our win. Also saw a Oxford fan intimidated fans signing the tired Northen Slums song in their faces. All in all good banter and well behaved fans.
Fair summary can see why you are doing well in league 2 and I thought yesterday was a great advert for leagues 1 and 2. Hope we can both push on and get promoted will look out for your results for rest of season. A few youth misbehaving in green man and a pissed up bloke carrying on in Watford gap on way back. But out of 60k more or less trouble free.
Great day and great display from both sets of fans. One thing that's bugging me and I can't get my head round though is where your extra fans came from?? I understand for big occasions all teams have a few extra turn up compared to average attendances but I really don't understand where your extra 21.2k (based on your average attendance of 6.8k) came from- especially since the majority seemed to have this seasons shirt on! Poor show that they don't turn up at your league games more often! Anyway great day out enjoyed some chats with Oxford fans and good luck in league 1!
Cheers Pal, it was indeed a great day out with two sets of well behaved, proper fans, both teams made it a wonderful match, each dominating a half, with us being the stronger in the run in......Oxford are a really good Div 2 side, saw you recently beat Morecambe and knew then that this would be a good tough game,...all the best for the rest of the season
I must say your fans were one of the friendliest I have ever come across. Both before and after the game. It was really nice not to be spat on or have have your women called slags and whores which is what we had from the Cardiff fans the last time we played at Wembley. Thank you for helping making it a good weekend. You were a credit to the game.
Oxford played well first half and we was a bit off pace , we played well 2 nd half . Good game . Good atmosphere inside and outside stadium . Credit to Oxford and there fans
I saw him on the track but missed him climbing over/through the fence. How did he manage that. I thought they were supposed to be idiot-proof! I can only imagine that he threw himself onto the horizontal fence and either rolled or bounced his way clear of it. Why spoil a great day by getting yourself arrested for doing that? Brainless!!
Thanks for coming back today and still posting, Obviously I am delighted we won but your team did themselves proud. They were better than most of the League 1 opposition I have seen us play this season ( and than we were for the first half a season). Just wonder if they ran out of steam a bit having played such a high energy pressing game. Fortunately for us a couple of our key players were at the top of their game which I think is what tipped the balance. Will be watching your results for the rest of the season and hope you get an automatic promotion spot ( unless you really want another day at Wembley) but also hope we don't meet again next season ( at least in the league or JPT cup or whatever its called next season) as that will mean we failed in our attempts
Yes have many have already said a great day out, enjoyed by many. Oxford easily best team in the first half and if they had nicked a deserved second we would have found it difficult to come back. Our better players turned up in the second half and that extra bit of quality showed in the end. Although your second goal was excellent. Chatting to quite a lot of Oxford fans on the way in and on the way back. All were friendly & chatty and a credit to your club. As others have said there were the odd idiots on both sides. But 99.5% who turned up went with the right attitude. You are certainties for promotion. And even if you didn't add any players at all from what i saw of that team , they will easily be challenging for top 8 next season in div 1. I just hope we will be in the championship, but if we aren't look forward to seeing you at oakwell next season and to another great game
