I'm a season ticket holder, wife isn't. We go to match together yesterday.

East Upper - wife cn't go in because it says tickets only. Go to ticket office where there is a big sign saying tickets are only available on the turnstiles. Go round to back of East stand, lots of signs saying tickets, but you can't buy a ticket on the turnstile at all.

Go back to ticket office and explain that there's one season ticket holder and one needing a ticket. Am told that we can't go in East Upper "becuase it's sold out". They advise me to go to the West Stand because I can go in there with my East Upper seaon ticket.

Wife queues on one turnstile, pays, gets in.

I queue on other turnstile - "oh you can't come in here - you're East Upper." JESUS CHRIST. The bloke in front of me was having the same argument.

I leaned forward and told the bloke behind the turnstile that the ticket office had 2 minutes ago told me that season ticket holders could go anywhere. "No they can't, we've been told they can only go where their seat is".

I told him I didn't really give a toss, and that my wife was standing at the other side of the turnstile waiting for me, so he let the bloke in front of me and myself in saying that he'd probably get into trouble. To be honest I'd have gone and stuck up for him if I'd found out that he did get into trouble.

So, Barnsley FC - BRILLIANT PLANNING. I've got a photo of the East Upper and I'd like to show you how "sold out" it was. For one thing pretty much the entire family enclosure was empty, the season ticket holders who sit near me definitely were NOT there so their seats were empty, and instead the Ponty and West were rammed because people couldn't use their East Stand seats.

And the sheer genius of organsing entry to a match where season ticket holders and non-seaon ticket holders couldn't get in together (unless the ST holder paid of course) - that's just so well thought out I don't know where to start.

Oh, and if ANY East Stand season ticket holders had the same problem as me, I'd write and complain to the club about how stupid it was and demand a refund.

We sit in the East upper and we got there early to get a seat near the half way line (our usual seats are in the family area ) and saw that a section in the middle adjacent to the half way line was taped off. Looked like this was saved for late comers paying on the gate. Because the stewards were letting people sit there with about 5 minutes to kick-off.

How did they know your voucher was for the East Stand?

They don't say on them which stand they're for.

Sorry mate, our lass bought mine and our daughter's season ticket through installments and picked up the free tickets from the box office a day or 2 before the friendly. It did say East Upper on them.

I was more annoyed with myself

For setting off at my normal time of 2.00pm. I should have known that there would be a bigger crowd than we get at our less important league fixtures.

Silly me and thanks to the extra fans for coming. We will hopefully see you again if we draw another premiership club in the cup.

no, friendlies are a start.cheap and make them welcome.

the club is a mess when organising anything. a friend took his nephew, who was allowed into the east stand paying through the juvenile turnstile.
but his uncle when he got to the turnstile was told the east stand was sold out and couldn't pay in.
after lots of argueing he was let in to meet his nephew.
they were a party of 12 who got split up. was the east stand full?. was it ****.

I feel ya pain Bill. Making season ticket holders and pay on the day people sit where their season ticket or match ticket says would have avoid ALL the problems. Allowing unreserved seating was asking for trouble.

All valid and good points, but am sure the turnstile operators, when they were telling people the East was full, were only acting on any information passed to them by club officials, so no good having a go at them
