It's a funny thing, a kind of institution, packing for holiday. My wife and my daughter are making lists, washing and ironing. My two boys are out playing and then have to be manhandled inside to pack. For me, its a handful of t-shirts, some shorts and then full on attention for books and music.

By Jove I think I'm beginning to wind down.

    Music transferring onto MP3:
    Kings of Convenience
    New London Consort
    Gomez
    Coldplay
    James Blunt
    AIR
    Goldfrapp
    Whitesnake
    Paul Weller
    Lloyd Cole

Books on my pile (to be whittled down by wifey no doubt):
The Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
Always Next Year - 1998-99 Season (When Saturday Comes)
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - Jean-Dominique Bauby
Football Confidential BBC Radio 5 Live
Che Guevara - The Motorcycle Diaries
The Romantic Movement - Alain de Botton
Tom Wolfe - A Man in Full
Carl Jung - The Undiscovered Self

You sound just like Big Lil

except I pack the clothes and he just chooses a couple of books. Then when we go away we always end up in book shops and buy more. (Laura is just as bad)

    I must admit ...

... there's a bit of gadgetry making its way into my bag too. Digital Camera, MP3 player, Phone, Blackberry and all the mains, adaptors, chargers .. no wonder there's no room for books ffs! Have a good holiday mate.

I've just packed 14 novels that I've been hoarding for the last 6 months - all the latest crime fiction. I'll read one a day and my holiday wouldn't be the same without my books!
I can't wait, feet up, chilled Cretan wine, sunny umbrella, choice of Tavernas, what more could a gal want?
