<p class="ss-text-bold">Paddy Kenny has signed a new deal at Sheffield United to keep him at Bramall Lane. </p> The 31-year-old is currently banned from all competitions until April after losing his appeal against a nine-month ban for failing a drugs test.</p> Kenny's existing deal was due to expire next summer and there had been suggestions he could be allowed to leave.</p> However, the club have moved to tie down the Republic of Ireland international to a deal until 2011.</p> The news is a boost to Kenny as he looks to get his career back on track once his ban ends.</p> Blades chief Kevin Blackwell was delighted to keep hold of Kenny.</p> "We're delighted, both for the club and for Paddy, that the situation has been resolved," said Blackwell.</p> "Paddy has had his contract extended for 12 months and he will now have the chance to prove that he's still one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship.</p> "It's great news for him and the club because we will have a quality player available, albeit not until next season."</p>
