Club should buy that old school and demolish the little building. It would make room for any West Stand redevelopment and the larger building could be used for club facilities for example a club bar etc.
It would be open through the week and could be used for BFC themed birthday parties, conference meetings, supporters trust meeting. With it being so close to the club id think thered be enough uses for it to make it profitbale. How do other pubs such as that one outside Elland Road survive then?
RE: Mounts a **** hole anyway So you don't agree that it should be flattened? what would you do with the big building behind? what about any future development of the West Stand, this pub would be in the way!
Future Developments Your avin a larfffff Were struggling to fill half of the ground and stay in the Cahmpionship, never mind make it any bigger, the west stand just needs a refurbishment. PUB!
Don't know about the school acrosds the road, but as a fan who travels from Cambridge for home games, I would love there to be a better selection of places to settle down after the journey and before the game. It's difficult to understand how the football ground became so disconnected from the town. Most away grounds are better serviced, particularly Norwich and Ipswich who have places within the ground where fans are encouraged to go before the game and stay afterwards. Even if it involved membership schemes it would bring people into the club, perhaps that has something to do with Norwich's 19,000 season ticket sales for next season? Yours is a great post by the way.
RE: Future Developments Yes at the moment what about in 20 years time sweatheart? Short term thinking wastes money in the long run. Iagree the site would be a useful purchase for the club. But I think the large building is the one that should be saved with the playground behind as parking. By all means have your club bar in there.
Well, we are in the midst of a recession just had another increase in beer duty, pubs are closing down every week.
RE: Well, we are in the midst of a recession Good time to buy property. I'm sure the council could do with the money too.
in 20 years time... I cant see barnsley needing a bigger ground. Even if we were to make it into the premiership it would only be for one or two seasons. Everyones got there own opinion thoe. Love X
RE: in 20 years time... short term thinking darling. You can't see Barnsley in 20 years needing a new West Stand? Think back 20 years...remember how Oakwell looked then. I don't disagree with you in principle love I just think it should be the big building that could be used. It could house a proper BFC museum, office space and a bar area. The playground to the back could be used for further parking space.
