Cracking journalism once again exposing the filth in the world. Guessing Mr and Mrs Blair might go silent for a while.
Looks like the monarchy have more questions to answer.

Just had a quick look on google 7 British names jumped out Michael Ashcroft, Tony Baldry. David Daivs(not the one you are thinking of but still a Tory) Michael Mates, The late Ian Cameron (yep his dad) Pamela Sharples all Tory's, and then there's Blair a Tory in all but name. All multi-millionaires they just can't get enough of that wonga.

Wait for tomorrow night's Panorama, party donors. Let's hope folk take notice, I'm hoping this will derail Johnson's party conference and his speech. Also hoping this the start of a fight back by the decent journalists within the Beeb. Its a hope, that's all we've got.

Not sure why they should go silent. They broke no law. The property was purchased through companies, one of which owned the land in question. The company they used to make the purchase was brought back onshore, meaning that it will be taxed in other ways on disposal. Guess how Oakwell and the surrounding land is held?

All true, but this lovely little loophole isn't one the average person off the street gets to use. Yep they'll have to pay capital gains tax on the property at some point. Its how it all looks and smells.
How many other properties could they have bought? Why did it have to be this one?

Further proof this morning that the Tories will literally take money from anyone. Most of the cabinet have received Russian linked money. All above board I'm sure.

What Blair has done he's bought a house in London for £6 million with a stamp duty of £350,000 but because he bought the company that owns the house he as no need to pay the duty it's not wrong but it's immoral to everything he say's he stands for in other words he supports the wrong party.

there is a smashing Blair speech circa 98 where he condemns this sort of behaviour and wants to see a clamp down so that people can never circumvent legislation in this manner. I know a mate of mine wrote it for him.

It demonstrates very clearly that for the good things Blair did there was one thing that he also did that overshadowed it. He destroyed trust In politicians. He led people to believe that they are ‘all the same’.

Folk have lost faith in politicians but have voted for the biggest liar in political history.
You couldn't make it up really.

That’s what happens when people believe politicians are all the same. When they perceive there is no difference. What Blair convinced them more than anything is that this is the case that all politicians lie and deceive and have no morality but will just bend with the wind. Johnson is just the result of that decline in trust if they all lie vote for the liar that is vaguely amusing.

Unfortunately for Tony the only poll he tops these days is the UKs most disliked politician. He should have been the one levellling up the north not leaving it a breeding ground for racism and Brexit.

We'll have to disagree on him being the most disliked politician, I really can't see that as being true in the slightest.

And, are you really blaming Brexit on Blair? That squarely falls at the foot of the Tory party and the pathetic waste of skin that is David Cameron, kowtowing to his backbenchers.

even more disliked than Patel and Rees Mogg I find that hard to believe.
I dont like Blair and he has some serious flaws but compared to some of the current cabinet he looks almost like a saint

last You Gov poll he had a minus -51 rating. 22 % favourability 73 % unfavourable though I think it’s a while since they included him in one. The last one I can find is from 2017. Given he’s no longer in front line politics they don’t survey on him that often.

last You Gov poll that I can find had him on -51 favourability. In terms of Brexit I see it more than anything to be a reaction and result of Thatcherism that Blair didn’t do enough to reverse. Of course the idiot Cameron ran the election but it’s sees we’re down years before when the industrial base was destroyed and replaced with poor or no jobs.

I'm not the Blair's biggest fan, but I think the 'holier than thou' attitude some are taking on this pathetic. if you or I wanted to buy that property and were given the choice to purchase it via the estate agent or save £312k by buying the company as an included asset which would you choose. Perfectly legal both choices. People shouldn't use this non event as an excuse to 'Blair bash'. There are far more nefarious issues in the Pandora Papers.

I'd probably have closed loopholes like it at some point during my decade in power tbh.
