...sorry if this has been posted before. Sums up the intellect of the average Hull fan, from BBC News Fans taunted over London bombings Police have launched an investigation after Queens Park Rangers fans were taunted about the London bombings. The club's supporters were subjected to chants including, "You're just a town full of bombers" by Hull City fans. Hull City chairman Adam Pearson, apologised to QPR and promised to ban anyone found to be involved in the abuse during the game on Saturday. Police said a 21-year-old man from East Hull, arrested for racist chanting, was fined and banned from football matches. Some upset QPR fans left the KC Stadium before the end of the game. Both Hull City and Humberside Police are studying CCTV footage to identify those responsible. One QPR fan, called Val, who was at the game, told BBC News: "Suddenly the Hull fans started shouting songs about the London bombings. "It was really upsetting. We came out of the ground in tears. I couldn't believe it." Hull's police commander Ch Supt Sean White, said: "I fully agree with the sentiments of anger and disgust. "We're talking about 30 to 40 shameless cowards who made these chants towards the end of the game. We're just not going to tolerate them. "We did intervene and made a number of arrests on Saturday. It has brought a great deal of shame to Hull City. "What I really need is the support of the public. While we know their faces we don't know all of their names." 'Unbelievably ignorant' A Humberside Police spokesman said a number of people were removed from the ground by stewards. Mr Pearson told The Times newspaper: "I've been told the fans chanted, 'You're a town full of bombers,' but I didn't hear any of the chants. "Obviously, if the allegations are true then we, as a club, completely abhor this sort of behaviour and those responsible will be dealt with accordingly - and that means banning them." Later on the QPR official website he said: "On behalf of the club I would like to unreservedly apologise to all QPR supporters who were subjected to this unbelievably ignorant and distressing chant."
all's fair to me...and I live here! I mean, isn't this wot footie's about, trying to get under other fans' skins? I'd have shrugged. It's no different from all the chants about lack of money, on the dole, "small town in.." etc what goes around comes around.
RE: all's fair to me...and I live here! well said, when we give out the banter to the pigs n scabs we expect some back but thats what makes the atmosphere
spot on We can't stand there chanting "78.3% of you are probably quite reasonable people (even tho you support a different football team)" (dunno tho...might work to the choon of "You're just a town full of...") ok, needs some work...
i dont understand one thing why 'town full of bombers' is racist. Is a bomber a race of people then? Do they come from the country of Bomb?
Who said it was racist? It is, however, in very bad taste and, according to comments on radio 5, the people responsible can probably be charged with incitement. I think it just shows how thick they are given the bombers were mainly from Leeds rather than London!
a newspaper report (i forget the paper) claimed it was racist and several reports speak of people that were caught being arrested for racist chanting.
You are joking aren't you? 50 odd people died in London so sick moronic chants like that are inexcusable. These "You're just a town full of " chants are not very witty in any case but what next - "You're just a town full of atom bomb victims" to the people of Hiroshima. I suggest fans try and make up songs for each player rather than bait the opposition. Watch Liverpool prior to kick-off and they have a chant for every single player.
"crying....ffs" what a load of crap. pure *****. arrests made? for what exactly? arrested for being amusing? what can they be arrested for?
