Was looking forward to the Wheelchair basketball. Totally ruined for me, not because we were not very good in the first half and were getting beaten by the Germans, but because the commentators haven't got a clue. The man who does know about it - 'Ade wossisname?' (and who does have a personality) is link man in the main studio with Claire Balding. Meantime we are not enlightened as to what team GB are doing when we concede so many fouls and during timeouts the commentators are either silent or spouting irrelevant drivel. And then there are all the ad breaks! Too much punditry and not enough sport! Finally, who decided C4 were capable of covering such a major event? Whilst it is good to have disabled interviewers they seem inexperienced in coping with non-media savvy athletes who have been thrust into the spotlight!
The coverage of 3rd and 4th quaters and ET wasnt too bad - my biggest problem is the adverts - and the fact that the volume trebles when they come on as well! Actually think Wheelchair basketball is better to watch than the regular kind
Watched it live on one of the additional channels.....agree that it's more entertaining than the regular version.
I agree that the c4 coverage is poor, with the exception of a few if the experts that they have got in. Some of the actual presenters are a bit poor tbh. Shame, because it's taking the shine off a great event. Been to Sitting volleyball, and table tennis today. The Moroccan sit volleyball team, who lost to Egypt really did endear themselves to the crowd..... And what a game! Brilliant. Barnsleys Sue Gilroy easily through the Preliminary in the wheelchair table tennis. Wasn't a great game, but some of the other players were well worth watching.
That sport was profiled on tv here last night (the Canadian flagbearer is a wheelchair rugby player). I didn't realise that they pretty much have to armour-plate the wheelchairs - an absolutely brutal sport. Looking forward to catching some of that on tv, it looks so competitive.
