Hannah Cockroft. wheelchair athletics. Trained in Yorkshire, and hitting the best form of her life, at the right time. Id be chuffed to bits if she does well. Watched her come up through the systems, and know loads of the coaches who have worked with her believed in her. Nice down to earth lass. Fingers crossed for her. Looking forward to watching this now, and hopefully the boost disability sport needs.
Me too - got tickets for Saturday nights Athletics and cant wait - means I will miss the Barnsley v Bristol game - but not a hard choice
Hope you enjoy it -at least you can be certain everyone will be really trying as hard as they possibly can ... and then some
Only one thing I would wish for - that the paralymics was being covered by the BBC as the Olympics were - none of our other broadcasters come close to being able to deliver on national events with the aplomb that the BBC can. And I am going to detest the constant "time for a quick break". Other than that I am really looking forward to it - I hope I enjoy it as much as the Olympics. And I wish I'd thought about getting some tickets.
current coverage is a bit poor so far to be honest - All Jon Snow seems to know about is the counties that have had recent wars, not overly convinced by the 2 in the stadium either but cant remember who they are
Missus got nominated at work to win tickets - we're going to see athletics on Tuesday, looking forward to it.
I went to the opening ceremony last night and had a great time. Not sure how it looked on TV (apparently Ch4 had adverts during it!) but the atmosphere in the stadium was excellent (I was also there for the Olympic 200m final so not the first time I've been to the stadium). The effects from the light pads on each seat are amazing to watch. Looking forward to the games too. Got tickets for the final Saturday and will be great to watch some truly inspiring competitors, as opposed to your average money-centric Championship player.
