Went to Paris at the weekend and got stung with a parking ticket. Does anyone know if they chase it up? I'm unsure whether to leave it and see or chase it up myself.
Dunno mate. I've trawled around a bit, as you must have, and cannot find anything specific. I wouldn't think they would go as far as extradition, or even prosecution via EU channels, but I wouldn't mind betting your name could well be added to a defaulters database, which could spell trouble the next time you set foot a la belle France. If it was a one off visit and you were never going to go back, like Chechnya for instance, I wouldn't worry. But who knows when you are gonna crave for cheap booze and a quick trip down the champ elesees again!
Cheers for the reply RR. I was more or less thinking the same thing. It may flash up some time in the future when least expected. I thought there may be some sort of connection with the DVLA or summat? The copper probably wouldn't have stung me if they couldn't chase it up somehow, unless he's a jobsworth bugger. Ta for the advice anyway. I'll probably end up paying it so it's a weight off my mind.
you've reminded me... the reason I came on the computer was to find out DVLA details, I haven't updated my driver's licence since moving 10 years ago...
I got one in Crete about 6 years ago. The rep told me not to pay it. I haven't heard out and been to loads of Greek islands since. They're not going to use Interpol for a parking ticket.

Don't worry. Very few people pay them in france. Every time a new President is elected there's an amnesty.
