While I was waiting the 40 mins to get out of the car park I was wondering why we don't have traffic management at the game end. Are we the only club to not have stewards managing this what is now pure Chaos. Seems like the start the day and end the day at Oakwell experience is getting much worse. Another reason towards giving up.
I rarely use the car park for those very reasons. There's plenty of street parking within a ten or fifteen minute walk of the ground so I see no point in both paying and being delayed any more than necessary
Colchester last week Icer parked in the official car park at the side of the ground. Cost £6 but after the game we were on our way home in less than 5 minutes. Efficient no faffing about and money well spent.
It's a valid point. We wait until the queues are something like manageable. I understand the point has been raised a number of times with the club but nothing has been done. We apparently have a traffic management company working for the club, but I really fail to see what they do.
I went last year, easy and well supervised. In Fact all the grounds i have been to in recent years, Nothampton, Yeovil, Oldham, Wigan, etc etc have all had better traffic management than ours and arguably worse car parks
They have people pre match pointing and waving you into clear spaces which i find rather pointless, as you say its after the match when there needs to be some order
Didn't I see that they are employed until 15 minutes after kick off and that it. It's easy though stop people Walking through the car park itself to get to pontefract road, make all cars turn left from the bottom of the car park in the gap or right from grove street. Stop general traffic on grove street for 15 minutes and hey presto it's sorted.
Donkeys years ago when we played in the 4th Division in front of 5 or 6000 there used to be someone directing traffic at the bottom of Oakwell Lane and another at the Ponty Road/Grove Street Junction both before and after the match. Now it's just a complete free for all with queues at both start and end of the game.
